Re:Backdoors in official Claude Code extensions on Friday October 30, 2026 @08:11AM (#50302838)
We still don’t know exactly what happened, but I publish software to public registries, and supply chain attacks scare the hell out of me. They also frustrate me, because most of the defenses aren't automatic and often really hard to get right. We're really failing as an industry to do better here.

Re:Gemini 4 Carbon on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:46PM (#50277785)
I can't tell if they're withholding access to manufacture some sense of scarcity but the delays are really prolonged. I'm nervous to use Gemini models anyway, as its attached to my Google account and I've seen too many people having their whole account banned for dubious reasons (with little recourse).

Also the whole "we're only releasing it to cyber defenders first" framing is weird, is any Gemini model an actual cyber risk?

Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @07:37PM (#50226607)
Small sample size, but I've heard from multiple physicians that AI note taking allows them to see more patients or spend more time with them and they're very happy with those kinds of capabilities that take over toil
Yea, I think all the tools have this now but its not a default. Install scripts should also be turned off by default and require some hassle to turn them on for the first time in a package.
IMHO defaults for uv, npm, etc should all have a cooldown for 24 - 48 hours by default, you should have to go out of your way to install something newer.

what word?
Re:Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet? on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @10:30AM (#49909524)
These guys are on twitter angry about the rate limit decrease and allegedly cancelled all their OpenAI accounts. Wonder how they'll maintain this.

I am quite convinced that the whole nerfing phenomenon is 90% AI psychosis. I have the word muted on X.

Oh wow those fees are predatory
It is a money grab from Amazon I'm sure. They want to make a deal with meta to get paid for access. Maybe also worried about liability I imagine on accidental unauthorized purchases?

I don’t actually know if this is LLM-generated, but phrasing like this is weirdly triggering to me now

Re:Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md if there is no Claude.md on Friday September 18, 2026 @11:43PM (#49763111)
Everyone sharing the 513 ways you can already do this is entirely missing the point. Standards matter and there's very few things in the AI world everyone agrees on and this is one of them. .agents/skills is another and anthropic is still holding out there.
Re:Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously on Monday September 14, 2026 @07:18PM (#49705596)
The example of the plant watering business is the hellscape future where humans have to deal with agents bugging them to sell them their services constantly. We're already seeing the first hints of this with iLands.

And the "hiring technicians" thing... great, humans on call for robots isn't the future I want.

I have a plug-in to do this. I don't know if it's effective but Claude said it was genuinely helpful (obviously would say that about anything)

By that logic, I think I'll create a new language called Pascal, or maybe Ada...
Re:Chapp – IRC alternative on Tuesday August 04, 2015 @11:13PM (#10007850)
I only work on F/OSS and spend my entire day on Freenode, so I don't think really I have a need for anything else.

A lot of people rave about Slack, and I think it's very unfortunate its a very closed platform.

There's already http://www.mattermost.org/ a open source alternative, which I haven't tried.

Re:Chapp – IRC alternative on Tuesday August 04, 2015 @09:52PM (#10007617)
Yay! Just what the world needs is another proprietary closed source chat system. Assuming its closed anyway, nothing yields source on Google, and the actual web site is down.

IRC works just fine.

Re:Why does Gmail hate my domain? on Thursday July 09, 2015 @07:23AM (#9857230)
If its true, its likely it's only a small part of the score but who knows, it might be enough to push my domain into the good graces of gmails spam filters.

I doubt you'd get away with doing it for a domain sending legitimate mail, or at least not for very long.

Re:Why does Gmail hate my domain? on Wednesday July 08, 2015 @08:29PM (#9855516)
Thanks, may have to pay Google the $5 (or thereabouts?) to host my mail for a month and consider it a cost of freedom from them long term.

After 2+ years of hosting my domain myself, it doesn't seem possible to build up enough reputation with them personally.

> The author jumps to an unfounded conclusion which is pretty irritating and probably will make everybody who could help him not want to help him.

Apologies if you took it as a conclusion, it was only hand waving speculation, but google does have an incentive to make it difficult for the little guy...

> Gmail either rejects spam at SMTP DATA time, or delivers it to spam folders.

They do if you have DMARC enabled, and a REJECT policy, although they still seem to ignore it sometimes and I have no clue my mail is sitting in a spam box.

Re:Why does Gmail hate my domain? on Wednesday July 08, 2015 @07:43PM (#9855349)
I have been through this, and the end result is a contact form that no one responds to. I filled it out a few months ago and again this week.

DMARC is enabled (and in one of the screenshots, Google shows it passing). I get reports from them, but it provides no insight into their decisions.
