I have the hardbound copies of these and they're incredible. Being able to leaf through them is fantastic. Highly recommended.

The Recognitions is a fantastic and rewarding book. It made an impact on my thinking that will probably never go away. Be patient with it and enjoy it.

I can't recommend 'On Dialogue' [0] enough. I try to always keep a few copies around to give away. 'Wholeness and the Implicate Order' is also great.

As Werner Herzog says, 'Read! Read as much as you can!'

Any other recommendations in the category of long-term Japanese history and anthropology? I find this subject really interesting, but have struggled to find good sources.

The related book, David Bohm's 'On Dialogue' [0] is short, fantastic and very much worth reading. I recommend it highly.

For those not aware of Bohm (although he's covered in the linked article) he's, well, a pretty incredible guy [1].

I hadn't looked at this since I first read it — should have looked more closely.
