From my understanding, you have to use SwiftUI differently than it is eventually intended. First, you build 90% of the app in SwiftUI, then you use UIKit for the other 10% that can't be done in SwiftUI. Eventually you will be able to do everything in SwiftUI, but for now, this strategy works pretty well.

Ask HN: Which companies train junior engineers with freelance exp and no degree

I was wondering which companies train freelance/self taught developers to get their first software engineering role who have not pursued a degree in computer science? For example, say someone started learning computer science fundamentals, iOS development, and has published 10 apps to the App Store. Say they've been doing this for 3 years and can pretty much code anything you tell them to. But...

I used Swift and Objective-C. Mainly Swift, even though I didn't even know it before April. I used FBShimmering, PureLayout, and SCLAlertView in it.

I got a free ticket to WWDC, but I can't go

Hi! I'm a 17 year old iOS developer and designer (just finished junior year of high school). In March of 2014, I started to learn making iOS apps (previously making Windows 8 apps) and have been learning as much as I could about it since then.Last month, I decided to attempt to get a WWDC scholarship by creating an app about myself. I noticed they said they would be giving financial aid to...

I tried using my own SSN, but they said I wasn't old enough. You have to send in that info for tax forms and such.

I can't, because I'm not 18. And he doesn't want to use his.

That's just confusing because I didn't give up the MacBook willingly. I told him I didn't want to work on it anymore with him because he didn't seem to into it as much I had hoped. I even gave him the offer that I'll stay if it was split 70/30, but he said no. He's even taking it another step by only allowing me to access the Internet for school now.

The thing is, it wasn't going anywhere. I couldn't make any apps that costs money (since I needed to make the company first to get an EIN).

I just quit a company that was never (formally) made

HiI'm a 16 year old app developer. In April of this year, I made a deal with my father for 50% of my company if he bought me a MacBook to make apps on, as well as start an LLC for the apps. I agreed to that deal because there was nothing to lose. I just wanted to make apps.*Skip to nowFor the past months, I've been learning, developing, and publishing apps. I've put as much work into it as I...
