The default font since GNOME 48 is Adwaita Sans (a modified Inter with different l's and I's) and for monospace it is Adwaita Mono (a modified Iosevka.)

I like it a lot!

"Claude, that thing they just said."
I use Claude Code and one of the steps in my workflow is do a review loop until no issues are found and it never loops. So my experience is entirely different. Even if I say: fix all issues. So not only the critical issues.
Using closed source software to drive my OS doesn't sound that appealing to me.

So the title is incorrect? They haven't left Switzerland yet?
Re:Syncthing 2.0 Released on Tuesday August 12, 2025 @06:53AM (#44874649)
I don't if it's the reason but the performance of modernc.org/sqlite is worse than github.com/mattn/go-sqlite3
I would assume the mission would be something like "travel safely". Keyword being "safely" here.

I think the Google Go style guide is really nice and pragmatic. There are some references to the GoTips for some advanced subjects. I hope they release it someday.

I made an issue for it: https://github.com/google/styleguide/issues/881

The music for Shovel Knight was made with this!

I think your browser is doing some embedding cause I don't see an embedded video...
Although the handhelds have been backwards compatible, only the Wii and the Wii U had backwards compatibility. The SNES, N64, Gamecube and Switch did not have backwards compatibility.

Although NativeAOT sounds cool and it's better than nothing: I don't like that it comes with a bunch of limitations[1]. I would have loved this if you could just use it without any changes, but I'm very worried that at some point I used something that prevents me from getting it to work and I have to figure out which limitation I just walked into. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re:Routed Gothic Font on Thursday September 05, 2024 @04:54AM (#41454829)
Oh my, that's so far off of my preferences of coding fonts. Do you have an example screenshot of what that looks like?
Re:How French Drains Work on Thursday August 08, 2024 @01:59AM (#41188540)
I read it as: How the French take the energy out of people that want to do work
Saying "tech is bad" or "screens are bad" sound very narrow-minded to me. Sure, there are issues in this "Tech-Saturated World" but I don't think avoiding Tech as much as possible is the answer.

I prefer a digital balance over digital minimalism.

Re:How I Backup on Tuesday February 27, 2024 @05:32AM (#39522439)
Redundant USB stick might be more reliable than a single USB stick. But for me a USB stick is just too unreliable.

I prefer putting my eggs in soft cosy baskets. Not in concrete baskets full of holes.

I discovered the Adrian's basement channel recently. It's amazing! Been watching repair videos that are over an hour. Somehow he can keep me interested. I like how he explains things and his enthusiasm is very contagious. "It freakin' works!"

Re:Microsoft is bringing Python to Excel on Tuesday August 22, 2023 @09:37AM (#37222527)
I'm a developer. People have often come to me with Excel sheets that were really slow because it was just too much for Excel. Almost all of the times IMHO a specific solution should have been developed for it. I'm curious to see if this makes it better or actually worse.

Why is this URL pointing to /publish-accepted? It gave a me a scare!

Maybe even because they would make less money if they can't sell your data anymore.
Re:Pi-Hole: Why You Need a Network-Wide Ad-Blocker on Tuesday August 07, 2018 @03:42AM (#17704538)
You can add a button to your Raspberry Pi to temporarily disable all the blocking. Not the best solution but still useful to know I think.

I like my Kindle Paperwhite. I think it allows you to take notes too. It's soooo much better than an LCD screen with a backlight shining in your face.
Re:KeePass 2.37 has been released on Thursday October 12, 2017 @10:33AM (#15458222)
There's something called deterministic compilation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deterministic_compilation

Debian is trying to get reproducible builds for their packages.

I don't know enough about iOS to say anything about that.

That's strange. I have used Nexus phones since the first one that came out and I have never experienced any significant battery drain from either wifi or bluetooth. First was always screen, second Android system.

Just checked again to make sure. Wifi 0%, Bluetooth 0%

It shows this as justification right now:

Oakley Group 14 is no longer considered secure enough. SHA-1 is no longer considered secure enough (see shattered.io).
