Re:App that chooses for you what to read on Thursday September 24, 2026 @12:25PM (#49832970)
Hey all,

I would love to get feedback on my app called "Topics". You might already think "there are tons of reading apps, why not use GoodReads?"

And well, you are right. But what I missed in all other products was being able to quickly decide what to read, and immediately start reading, with a high chance of the writing being high-quality.

There are tons of texts on the internet, and that is exactly the problem. When you write, you don't compete in quality, but you compete in attention, SEO, and other factors. I wanted a quiet place where all writings are already curated and I will not come across AI slop or clickbaits.

I hope more people enjoy my app and share genuine feedback.

Thank you!

T.

Hi all, I built this app for myself first, but thought other people might enjoy it. Thank you for any feedback and for testing!

1. What does it do? - It lets you browse hundreds of topics and thousands of high-quality writings and read them within the app - You can also add your own articles from the internet - You can post reading in feed, practice vocabulary, or curate your reading collections

2. But why is it needed when there is Substack, Goodreads, and millions of article readers? - I just didn't like any of these. Substack feels flooded by content optimized for clicks, newsletters, and even AI slop. I don't want to spend long time choosing what is actually worth to read in my favorite topics. - I love Goodreads, but it is mostly for books. - Other reader apps don't recommend me new articles.

3. Is it free? Is it only for iPhone? - Yes and yes. - It has web version too: topicsapp.net and it will have android version.

Yeah, for now just apple. goodreads for short articles. YOu are getting recommended new ones or can add your own.

I use it daily, and want to find out if other people would also find it useful. Wdyt?

Hi HN.I would love to show you beta preview of Topics.Articles on the internet are organized by source (publications, social media, personal websites), by recency, or by position in search.I believe it’s nicer for the reader if articles are organized by Topics.Topics solve problem of decision fatigue, omnipresent AI slop, and people stopping to trust writing on internet and stopping to read.I'm...
