Re:Zoho launches privacy-centered web browser, Ulaa on Friday May 05, 2023 @03:07AM (#35826197)
The privacy-centered browser is equipped with features that allow for privacy customisation, built-in user profile modes, and integrated productivity tools while keeping user data safe and private. Users can also sync browsing sessions between devices—either an entire browser window or a singular tab—allowing them to use multiple devices for the same browsing session seamlessly

Re:Google Maps launches Street View in India on Thursday July 28, 2022 @05:56AM (#32262379)
You mean this -> https://www.mappls.com/
A current minister in the Government of India was "a member of the architecture teams that invented the 486 chip and later, Intel’s signature Pentium chip" - https://magazine.iit.edu/fall-2012/ahead-curve
https://www.userfrosting.com/ is a good open source solution in this space actually.
While Google Lens does the job for the most part, we created a free privacy minded security first app - https://dhiway.com/seqr/ This app plugs in to Google's anti-malware lookup service to flag harmful content from making it to the device.
And some thoughts on the background for the app - https://medium.com/dhiway/secure-qr-scans-with-the-seqr-app-...
The government's perspective. Apparently, the bank account that was frozen violated money laundering laws and was upheld by a court. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/...
We had a similar idea, but didn't follow through. Here are some non-obvious use cases that you may find interesting

- Price comparison for the same item at different local stores - Localized demand estimation for brands - Referrals for items not available in the traditional distribution model (eg. Organic/Handmade goods)

Re:India Plans to Launch Moon Mission in July on Thursday June 13, 2019 @01:23AM (#20172022)
Actually, the Indian Moon Mission is more than just a moon landing. It'll be the first time that any vehicle lands on the south polar region of the Moon. Find out more here on the scientific objectives for the mission - https://www.isro.gov.in/chandrayaan2-mission
good thing is unca Sam doesn't have a monopoly for indian arms contracts. India's arms contracts are spread across Russia, France, Israel, USA. And quite a lot of indigenisation is in progress.

The fact that this article was first posted on Wolfram's blog should cut him some slack
And risk detection of more "emission scandal" like issues? :-)

Re:Ask HN:Why should I read science fiction? on Sunday December 15, 2013 @02:12AM (#6908660)

Over the years many innovations have been influenced by Sci-Fi novels. Incidents from books like 1984 have come totally true in various countries.
Re:Ask HN: What is the next industry to be disrupted? on Friday April 26, 2013 @04:19AM (#5611956)
IMHO, Groklaw's activities have laid a good pattern that can be followed for disrupting the legal industry. Some effects of the disruption could be - interesting cases using crowd sourcing to aid discovery - finding economical and effective lawyers made simple - decreasing tolerance for frivolous complaints

Similar things could be done in the Health industry as well

The very fact this post has made it to the top of HN/Reddit/4Chan, is incentive enough for similar communities to start searching for needles in those haystacks of photos. I guess we can expect more such "observations" from the crowd :-|
