Re:Show HN: AltTab Windows Switcher for Mac on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @02:20PM (#49982140)
thank you! I actually added a few more other useful things such as shortcut quick jumps so you can switch apps quick using keyboards to avoid interrupting your flow. It's working out really well for my own use. And it supports high-res monitor with bigger font sizes too, it's something a lot of apps miss.
Re:I still like Sublime Text in 2025 on Wednesday January 29, 2025 @03:47PM (#42870946)
I love using Sublime for Python. It's still my go-to IDE for development.
great job! Totally enjoyed playing with the sequencer.
This is why we have to stop Trump and all his cronies from destroy this very earth. It's so mind boggling to see the level of greeds at play here. We're already burning up the Amazon and now for some oil and to save a few thousand jobs in Alaska.

Trump and the Republican party are so corrupted it's unbelievable.

Re:Ask HN: What Skills to Acquire in 2020? on Tuesday February 04, 2020 @08:40PM (#22243205)
You should invest your time to learn how to invest and trade stocks. I spent 8 months learning trading and it has been a very challenging but rewarding process.

Learning Options trading is another thing you can do once you become more familiar with the stock markets, and hopefully you can start trading options using your profits from your wise investments.

These 2 skills, stock trading and option trading, in my opinion, are the most critical skills for someone, especially software engineers to generate more incomes and become financially independent as an alternative path to founding/working at a startup.

You can start small to learn but invest 1 good year and you'll be amazed at the knowledge and freedom you have gained.

Re:Ask HN: Best books you read in the past decade? on Sunday December 29, 2019 @11:58PM (#21910917)
I read Shogun and Tai-Pan as recommendations from my dad and I thoroughly enjoyed both.
Your work is amazing. Great job! I'm super impressed. I used to do a bunch of 3D stuff but then I switched to web/mobile dev and that was it for 3D. I can see why your software is successful because it solves a very exact pain-point that is very costly and time-consuming.
Code Complete would be a great gift. This is the book I read when I first got out of college and it has had a very important influence on my coding style and thinking.
Can you share your key principles? Any book recommendation would be great too.
Re:Populism (03/2017) – by Ray Dalio on Thursday July 26, 2018 @05:50PM (#17621592)
First 5 pages are gold. This part trips me out on how similar the Trump's administration and Trump himself are doing. It's like their playbook one by one.

"And while their political ideologies vary, the 1930s populists shared most of these core beliefs and policy goals:

o They aligned themselves with “the people” or “the common man.” o They were anti-establishment and attacked the current ruling interests (government, corporations, wealthy individuals, etc.), calling them elites who were out of touch and had failed the people. o They sought to undermine those elites in favor of others by, for example, advocating wealth redistribution or the nationalization of industry. o They were strongly nationalist and held national unity as a key aim. o They detested the debate and disagreement inherent in democracy, and sought to empower the executive branch, using strong-arm tactics to prevent others from getting in their way and, in more extreme cases, undermining democracy. o They tended to be anti-international, anti-global trade, and anti-immigrant. They often railed against foreign influence in their countries. This often translated to hostility toward other countries, which pushed those countries to embrace political extremes as well.

• Conflicts between factions became increasingly intense, leading to great obstructionism, crackdowns on opposition and free media, etc. This led to more autocratic leadership. Those that had the weakest norms/shortest history of democratic institutions were quickest to move away from democracy to dictatorship"

Re:Ask HN: Recommended CRM solution for a SaaS startup? on Monday October 02, 2017 @05:23PM (#15388087)
We use PropsperWorks and it works great. Amazing integration with GMail. However, watch out for their contract. We had to let go of some sales people and we're still trying to re-negotiate our seats with them.
Re:SVG can do that? on Wednesday August 16, 2017 @08:32PM (#15032651)
This is a very inspirational presentation. I'm blown away. SVG can be the solution our next wave of interaction now that Flash has almost completely died.
Re:How it feels to learn JavaScript in 2016 on Monday October 03, 2016 @07:05PM (#12632099)
Right on. Exactly how I feel as well. A few years back Backbone was all in the rage, and then Angular, then React, but the pieces were all moving too fast. Building a site is hard enough. My decision? stick to what works best now (to best of my knowledge for maintenance) and focus on the most important thing: revenue. I hate to be the first jumper.
About time! The paid reviews were getting really annoying and I started to feel that Amazon's amazing review system was going down in terms of quality. It's a bold move for Amazon and it sends the right message: high quality, trust-worthy reviews are much better than high quantity, biased reviews.
Re:Mozilla Fathom: Find meaning in the web on Saturday July 09, 2016 @12:09PM (#12061926)
This is an interesting library to watch for sure. Personally I have built many scrapers and extractors to be used in house and I have spent many hours on tweaking Readability JS and I know how complicated and hard-to-test the code is. Seeing how Fathom does its job is cool -- it takes care of a lot of the low level, bookkeeping parts so that all you need to do is to focus on tweaking the ranking formula. I'm not surprised if in the future we will have a shared repo containing "recipes" to parse pages, and slap on a nice UI with DOM traversal then we'd have a Kimono-like app for parsing contents.
Re:UI Performance Decline – OS X Tiger to Yosemite [video] on Tuesday December 30, 2014 @03:33AM (#8813813)
I had this issue too with non-waking up from sleep. Somehow the problem dissapeared after I upgraded the HDD to SSD. Now everything is working fine. Nonetheless, I'm still on Mavericks, no Yosemite upgrade yet. Just a potential solution to your sleep problem.
