I didn't buy my V8 Tundra because of how it sounds. I bought it knowing that it will last me a long time with basic maintenance. While I may be lucky to get high teens in terms of MPG, I haven't seen much better from the likes of the newer twin-turbo V6. It wouldn't be practical to be a daily but I only drive around 5K miles a year.

I didn’t ever expect to see Chat Pile mentioned here. Their music captures this sentiment perfectly though.

Re:Request Coalescing in Async Rust on Sunday March 06, 2022 @03:56PM (#30581182)
I attempted to mimic Go's single flight package myself [0]. It doesn't have support for the asynchronous world but I suppose that could be made possible. I also have to mention bradfitz for providing the initial implementation (I think?) to learn from. It's really quite elegant!

Does anyone else think the Rust HTTP ecosystem is becoming increasingly fragmented? I can't keep track of which library is best suited for common operations. Is it a web framework built on hyper? Should I pay attention to tower middleware? Where does tracing fit in?

They filled it. I applied and followed up with the recruiter who contacted me initially and they said it was closed.

Re:Show HN: Top, but for Nginx on Wednesday June 10, 2020 @07:27PM (#23483390)
I made a new GitHub release with binaries for Mac and Linux pretty recently. In this sense, you can just download the binary and get up and running.

Thanks for submitting a patch! I have been throwing around the idea of using the "bundled" feature flag listed here: https://github.com/rusqlite/rusqlite#optional-features. I was hesitant to initially because it would force users to have a specific version of SQLite.
Re:Show HN: Top, but for Nginx on Tuesday June 09, 2020 @10:45AM (#23467077)
I can work on adding that into the README now.

I hadn't heard of this tool but it looks much more complete! Thanks for sharing.
Re:Show HN: Top, but for Nginx on Tuesday June 09, 2020 @10:34AM (#23466995)
Thanks for the feedback. I wanted to capture the same idea as the original tool I listed in the README. In the future I hope to add functionality to tail a log file in real time and do live updates of the stats. This is where the idea of top comes from.

I recently started listening to Deafheaven and haven't heard of this fiasco? Do you happen to have any links to news related to it?

Ask HN: How do you keep your mind sharp?

Since HN is a community of individuals who mostly like to keep learning, how do you maintain that discipline? After graduating a few years ago, I feel as if I forgot all of the math I studied and know it would be more difficult to learn it again. What are some of the best ways you have found that help you stay fresh?

For me, Bandcamp has been the best site that holds true to this idea. My favorite band started releasing all of their music through Bandcamp because the pricing is fair for artists. And as a listener, I can download the music to my machine or stream it from the app after I have purchased it.

I'm definitely not experienced enough in C++ to know the details around this but I would love to hear about it from someone who is. I know some of the limitations of Rust's current type system but there is a decent amount of work underway to implement things like constant generics.

It sounds like they don't intend to add any more tuning parameters for the time being. Considering they have made it this far without many ways to adjust the garbage collector, I'll bet this remains true.
