Ask HN: Why can I send people on FB messages when we aren't friends?

Hi,I'm just wondering why can anybody send messages on FB to others when they are not friends, and when their privacy settings is that only friends can message them. All I had to do to send a message to a person who wasn't a friend is click on "new message", a box popped up, in the field "to:" I copied the username from the url on that person profile, and then append "@facebook.com" and the...

That's exactly why I thought about it in the first place.

Thank you for your reply, and yes you are right, but I want to achieve is an app you could use on your smartphone that can show photos (and later videos) that have been taken in the place you are standing, in other words, you can see what happened when you weren't there.

Show HN: Can you tell me what's wrong with this idea?

Hi,I'm thinking of releasing a public beta real soon, but I have a small fear that things won't be as expected, so can you just point a finger on what's wrong? what could be done to get some traction? is it worth it?here is the link: http://www.sqardius.comany piece of advice, suggestion, remark or critic is highly appreciated.Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, you're totally right about the features priority, I think I'll have to just wait for a couple of weeks to make sure that at least there is no obvious bugs and security holes.

Re:Ask HN: Feedback and advice on startup Sqardius on Friday June 15, 2012 @02:23PM (#4117883)
In the beginning I was thinking about photos and videos, later I decided to focus on pictures then wait and see. If things go well with the pictures, definitely going to do the videos as well, if it doesn't, well I tried.

if you take a picture at the mall, the picture stays at the mall, and other people that go to that mall will see the picture.

Ask HN: Feedback and advice on startup Sqardius

Few months ago, I had an idea for a startup, I thought it was good enough (I still do, but not like before), the idea was simple ( http://www.sqardius.com ):- A photo sharing service where people can share and view pictures around them (in 1Km radius) (like Color and Paronamio together) once the picture is uploaded, any one can view it later if he is in the area, also these pictures are shared...

Re: We need testers to review our product and send feedbacks on Thursday April 26, 2012 @08:21AM (#3893506)
The site is using Html5 tags, that's why you get that. Yeah, to just look on others pictures of where you already are isn't that fun or interesting, but we think it might be useful to see pictures of community meetups, sport or musical events, not all the people can assist to an event, Sqardius allows users to see what others have seen before.
Re: We need testers to review our product and send feedbacks on Thursday April 26, 2012 @07:43AM (#3893370)
If you do find it not interesting at all, please tell us why. Maybe we can do better.
for now we are in Morocco (North Africa).

Yeah, even if it doesn't say so, it is created, just use the login form.
Thanks for your reply,

We have just launched our beta version today, so we are starving for feedbacks like yours. One of the reasons we have launched as soon as we could is to deal with the empty base problem, and I want to let you know that this is only the basic features.

Thanks again, replies like yours give us a giant push to continue what we've started.

Show HN: Sqardius or where photo sharing is more than just fun, please review

Hi all,Sqardius is a new photo-sharing service where pictures are only shared in 1Km Radius, so that people can only view pictures around them, we think it could be a great service when used for community meetups, concerts, sport events .etc.Please let us know what you think about it and if you have any feedback, we are here, we accept any kind of feedbacks: critics, suggestions,...

Ask HN: How to prove I'm right?

Hi everyone,Here is the situation, I'm a grad student of 2011, and even before the graduation I didn't liked the idea of working for someone, I want to work for myself even if I get smaller salary. But everyone around me (family and friends) think I'm either stupid or crazy (maybe you too), and they do everything possible to prove it, I stopped applying for jobs months ago, but they started...

Re:Help with Android app on Saturday March 31, 2012 @07:13AM (#3780056)
Hi,

I'm not an expert in the field ( yet ), but from my own point of view and experience,

1- To start developing in android, if you don't know Java, you should first learn Java (it's not obligatory but highly recommended), if you are willing to learn Java and if you can understand French, I recommend SiteDuZero.com, it's really helpful as they start from scratch, and by the way there are lot of courses about almost everything.

2- I've always used Eclipse, I don't know if it's the best, but I've never had the need to look for something else.

3- No one can answer this question, it's up to you to know your strengths and weaknesses, but I think that for example: 4 hours in a row is better than 2 hours in 2 days.

And good luck.
