Privacy and financial independence without banks and financial companies. For that alone, it's worth it. Anyone who does not understand is a slave of the system.
Re:I built an offline smart home on Sunday January 07, 2024 @06:27AM (#38900335)
Best post for today. I've been thinking about this for a while. Personally, I am bothered by the attachment to all the biggest spies, such as google, amazon...that's why I avoided it until now. The idea is good, I will check if your implementation works for me.
Just another reason to delete Facebook and Instagram.
Hi. I know a company but is in Europe. Remote job maybe?
Why is this Guardians story flagged? That's a true story not a fake news.
Re:Google Bard available everywhere but not in the EU on Thursday May 11, 2023 @03:08PM (#35906888)
Its OK. We don't need it. Google is the biggest spy agency worldwide.
I'm using only FF on Ubuntu and Win10. Sometimes I receive the Verify window (2x per week) mostly on Win10. I'm from Europe. This started less than a month ago.
Re:Ask HN: Is your GoDaddy domain down too? on Thursday February 23, 2023 @05:54AM (#34909012)
No, for me is working fine godaddy.com.
Re: on Wednesday February 08, 2023 @04:52PM (#34715849)
Amazing journalism again. This can be a huge problem for Germany, Europe and US.
Amazing, really.
They will do anything to make Russia lose, including glorifying the Nazis. Politics is the same everywhere.
Re:What if countries acted more like companies? on Monday January 23, 2023 @02:03PM (#34493369)
it's true The company fires you. What happens if the state fires you? Democracies would disappear, only dictators would rule. If I wasn't happy with you, I would throw you out.
Sad. At the same time, the reality on the market. Officially, there is no OFAC requirement to block, so they do it to look clean.
Re:FDA proposes shift to annual Covid vaccine shots on Monday January 23, 2023 @01:57PM (#34493271)
I have to admit, I got vaccinated. But now I really don't see any reason why we should do that. The situation is better, the mortality rate is lower. I suspect it's all about fearmongering and profits again.

Can I back the project with Paypal? Anyone known that? Thx

Seems no. Only payment card accepted and bank transfers.

Re:Cybersecurity Ecommerce website looking for Marketing Advise on Wednesday December 28, 2022 @04:59PM (#34166570)
My personal opinion: Leave online marketing for now and go local. I had the same problem, spent a lot of money on advertising, then decided to go local. I literally attacked local businesses. I found companies (excel list of +100 local companies), went to Linkedin and contacted CTOs and CEOs. I have bought the pro version on Linkedin. You get some free Inmails, it works professionally and people reply. It was ok for me, I hope it will be for you too.
Funny comments. You are talking about indicators. Even the number is smaller we still talk about 100 million of death people.
Very good idea. Be aware that almost all items have their barcodes from the fabric. If you use original barcodes, they can be easily tracked by users on ebay and used to compare with other items (good idea).
Re:Bitcoin’s Last Stand on Friday December 02, 2022 @01:36PM (#33834731)
The EU is again the last. Shame on you EU Commission
Re:How many times do you open HN each day? on Sunday November 20, 2022 @02:45PM (#33684528)
I have the newest tab always opened. Refreshed in the morning and in the evening. Them I'm scrolling back :)
I'm from Europe too, from a country that is not one of 5. I have a personal account from 2009 and a business account from 2015. Noone verified. I find that all polititians from all countries are verified, many other from different countries are verified, I'm not. $8? Why not. But I think there is one core problem. Those verifitions are "fake". If Twitter want a real verification will use some verification apps available on internet to verify users with IDs and proof of address. That will be a fair verification. Price for verification? $0.5 one time fee for verification.
Another crap. My friend told me...read first.

Last year, Tether revealed that it held some cash but also bought a large amount of commercial paper, which is short-term corporate debt. This raised concerns given that Tether does not disclose exactly which companies it holds commercial paper from, and where those entities are based.

But the company has been reducing the amount of commercial paper in its reserves. In the fourth quarter of 2021, commercial paper made up just over 30% of Tether’s total reserves, down from more than 44% in the third quarter.

“Over time we will keep reducing the commercial paper, we aren’t finished yet with the reduction,” Paolo Ardoino, chief technology officer of Tether and affiliated cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex, told CNBC on Wednesday at the Paris Blockchain Week Summit.

I'm from Europe. Until the US will spy on all (US citizens blindly obey and let them do whatever they want, in China it's the government in the US the companies and the government). Cut those cables today. Europe will be connected with Asia and Africa, 2/3 of the world.
Re:Ask HN: How Google recaptcha v3 works? on Saturday September 17, 2022 @04:08PM (#32881098)
We all should move to https://www.hcaptcha.com/ or any other provider who is not Google.

They are spying on all.

Re:Tell HN: Access to my personal Gmail blocked on Saturday September 17, 2022 @12:56PM (#32879023)
Gmail is good for all commercial/marketing emails, I prefer to call this spam. For anything else I use protonmail and own email server.
Youtube lost the comments war years ago. More than 90% of videos are marketing techniques to attract watchers to bring their money. There are too much ads, comments are from bots such us likes, subscribers. Seems like instagram, fb, tw. Another network to avoid. And if you don't like ads, buy a subscription...for fake videos. Are we all idiots?
Re:Why do people use Hacker News, why not Reddit? on Saturday August 27, 2022 @10:37AM (#32619479)
