Not my site, just something I stumbled across that looked interesting.

Bots programmed by devs at major companies, with challenges based on what those companies are working on. Intended as a recruiting tool, with option on victory to submit your information to the applicable company.
Re:The Superbook: Turn your smartphone into a laptop for $99 on Tuesday August 09, 2016 @02:08AM (#12252891)
Can use bluetooth as well. I've helped mates replace their windows laptops with android tablets for (non-STEM) uni coursework. Pick up a cheap bluetooth keyboard and mouse, a tablet, and you're good to go. The keyboard and mouse will last you a decade, easy, and buying US$100 tablets every 2-3 years, you're looking at nearly a decade before it would cost the same as a laptop.
I wouldn't even say first, I'd say they believe the version they want. It's all about echo chambers these days, one need only look as far as the modern (american) college campus, tumblr, facebook, twitter, etc. Anything that isn't devout worship and support is now "harassment" and they have to flee to their safe spaces. The mere concept of civil discourse and disagreement, together, is intolerable to these children.
The attention deserved would seem to be scorn, given the apparent history of pranks and trouble-making, combined with his family's glory-seeking as well as unstable behaviour. Further, there was nothing inventive or experimental about the clock: all he did was gut an existing clock and put it in a pencil case.

All indications are that the punishment was justified, and the family is simply capitalizing on the incredible and racist double standards of the western world today: muslims can do no wrong.

Re:How do you go about getting contracts for remote work? on Tuesday August 09, 2016 @01:29AM (#12252801)
It's really hit-and-miss in my experience. One source is upwork (what used to be "elance"), a kind of networking tool for employers and freelancers to find each other. They take a pretty big cut (20%), but there's the potential to make a fair bit of money on short-term and / or remote projects. It doesn't just cover tech either.

I'm fairly new to using it myself, and while I've not gotten any work through it so far, I have gotten a couple phone interviews, so it's not nothing.

This propaganda piece assumes its conclusions (you're white and male therefore have privilege; this claim has never been supported by any credible source, nor is it here). It further asserts that you are obligated to use this privilege (whose existence is not established) to the benefit of others based solely on the colour of their skin, their genitalia, etc.

It goes on, again without any support whatsoever, to claim that the opposition to Hillary and anyone else that's female is based on their genitalia, rather than the factual issues with these candidates.

It seems to be the usual racism and sexism of lowered expectations for anyone not white and male, and the villainization of anyone who is white and / or male.

This piece has no merit whatsoever. It could very well be course material for a gender studies course given the assumed conclusions and clear agenda, without any actual facts present.
