Very impressive. I hope to someday apply, but being a very novice technical founder, that day may be much farther down the road.

Queue patio11.

I remember Patrick commenting on this issue a few months back. His comment was insightful and, from what I remember, he concluded that Demand Media was indeed profitable.

His SEO knowledge lends his conclusion credibility.

He thinks he is a contrarian with some special insight. He gets called out on almost everything he writes.

Ask HN: Abandon my efforts of creating spreadsheets instead of using QB?

I like the idea of having all my financial statements accessible from anywhere and by people who have permission to view them. So I started replicating much of Quickbooks' functionality using Google Docs. However, I'm coming to learn that although it is possible to include much of Quickbooks' features, it's becoming a little cumbersome to do so.Should I just use Quickbooks?(I'm also considering...

Nick's acting like a dick.

Craig, please continue to distribute Simpletip. I see that you seem to know more about the licensing issues than Nick.

Re:Drug dealers shouldn't make iPhone apps on Sunday June 06, 2010 @04:09PM (#1409041)
I'm not trolling. I'll consider doing a Reddit AMA.
Re:Drug dealers shouldn't make iPhone apps on Sunday June 06, 2010 @04:02PM (#1409028)
Bullshit.

I used to be on one of the biggest drug dealers on my side of the city and I now make iPhone apps (among other ventures).

I worked my way up to selling about 2 kilos of crack a week, starting from "20-pieces" (little rocks that weight 0.2 grams, sold for $20).

I'm definitely not proud of myself for doing so, but those few years have taught a me a lot about running a business (including money management, cultivating relationships, "hiring" personnel, and the economics of supply and demand) and gave me much of my entrepreneurial spirit.

Re:Max Klein's top secret private mailing list on Sunday May 16, 2010 @08:41PM (#1353136)
Seriously? What can this guy possibly share privately that he can't mention publicly? Is he really going to give some special insights that a reader can benefit from to his detriment? Or, does his altruism have some other, hidden agenda?

I, for one, think this guy is a master troll. I can't believe that many HNers are not cynical enough to call him out on his feigned success.

Specifically, Andrew Warner wants to interview him? For what? Why give him a platform if he has no apparent accomplishments worthy of such an audience?

Ask HN Spreadsheet Contractors: How do you feel about being undercut?

I've been looking through the contractors spreadsheet and I notice that there are many people with similar skills with large discrepancies in rates. How do those on the West Coast, for example, feel about seeing others from the Midwest, South or another country charging a fraction of what you do?<p>I know it's known that developers from the West Coast are generally more expensive than...

Max? Is that you?
This guy's a joke. His novelty is wearing off fast. His startup advice is stale and it seems like he's tryig too hard to build up his Internet persona.

Ask HN: How do you solicit "known people" to play a role in your startup?

I was just looking at the Venture Hacks AngelList application and noticed a field called "Social proof." This field is labled as important and asks for "known people" in a company's industry that are involved with said company. How does an unknown founder go about soliciting "known people" to play a role in their startup? It seems like a chicken and egg kind of problem.
