Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:39PM (#50277637)
I'm always on the go, working from trains, light rails, cafes with bad internet etc.

iPhone hotspot is slow, unreliable and drains the phone's battery quickly

Luckily i'm in a country where a 600GB 5G plan costs the equivalent of 15$ a month, with 3$ per extra eSIM (watch/computer/car/whatever)

Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:24PM (#50277238)
No cellular which is literally the only thing missing from the macbook pro :(

1. Mini LED is fantastic so the OLED jump is marginal at best 2. I know many people with a touchscreen windows laptop. None of them uses the touch function on a regular basis

That explains why Raymond Holt was so sharp

Let’s put them in robots! I’m sure It’ll turn out just fine
Re:Jeeves. Reasoning improves Jev-like decision models on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @02:28PM (#49898140)
Meh. Wake me up when it reasons in latent space and answers in less than a second
Re:Raspberry Pi blocks changing RAM chips on Monday September 21, 2026 @09:47AM (#49787239)
Raspberry Pi is going down the way iRobot did, succumbing to pressure from chinese players like radxa or orange pi.

Sad to see industry pioneers lose to players that copy them and undercut prices using cheap labor.

Re:Jev-Leftpad on Monday September 21, 2026 @06:36AM (#49785457)
How did this guy get a single-letter GitHub username?
Re:Jev-Leftpad on Monday September 21, 2026 @06:34AM (#49785443)
Flaky tests by design is a diabolical idea
So cool. I've fired up pumas (energy monitor) and it seems to run almost fully on the neural engine and not the GPU so it plays really nicely with CoreML
Pre-AI internet data is like pre-war steel

The slop would multiply if we keep feeding it to new models in a loop

Re:Jev: New frontier model 40-400x cheaper and 20-200x faster on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @05:23PM (#49719089)
I don’t see this as an option in their website

You could theoretically ask “what is the next appropriate character?” and add the entire ascii charset but i doubt it’d work well and you’d be implementing autoregressive churn across network latency…

Re:Operation Smart Kettle – Börzels Blog on Sunday September 13, 2026 @05:18AM (#49681800)
Probably a beken chip, should be easy enough to flash OpenBeken using the pins if they're exposed You can usually take over tuya devices if you sign up for a developer account and go some sort of verification process, it's pretty easy, sometimes it's possible to get a token for local control (tuya-local)
Re:New Mac mini, featuring M6 and M5 Pro on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @10:23AM (#49434698)
It basically means that every meaningful comparison produced an embarrassing improvement multiplier
Re:New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @10:13AM (#49434525)
The article's headline contains an em dash. I wonder if it's AI-generated
Re:3GPP Version 19 on Friday July 24, 2026 @11:03AM (#49036723)
Their portal gave me a warm feeling of internet nostalgia Also the file claiming to be PDF while actually being DOCX is pretty amusing

I really like the improvements to satelite connectivity, brings us one step closer to a future where LEO broadband like Starlink/OneWeb is a commodity

Re:Annoying and alarming things about OpenCode on Monday July 20, 2026 @09:38AM (#48978740)
If OpenCode is so terrible it wouldn't be the base for many of the fortune 500's internal cli coding agents, Meta included
Re:Inkling: Our Open-Weights Model on Wednesday July 15, 2026 @02:57PM (#48925512)
I second that. Gemini 3.5 Flash rocks the benchmark charts but is terrible as an agent. Horrible instruction adherence and makes WAY too many tool calls
Very cool project but having fable in the name makes it sound so tacky
Re:ZCode – Harness for GLM-5.2 on Thursday July 02, 2026 @03:18AM (#48757691)
First-party harnesses are great, but i'd really wish this was a CLI and not a GUI
Re:The eighth-generation TPU: An architecture deep dive on Wednesday April 22, 2026 @10:32AM (#47864221)
2.764 petabytes of HBM per 8i? So that's where all the RAM went.
Re:Internet Protocol Version 8 (IPv8) on Thursday April 16, 2026 @01:34AM (#47789029)
I'm working on my IPv9 proposal as we speak. It has an LLM validating the contents of every packet. Gotta stay ahead of the curve.
I can't be the only one who thought this was a phone farm based on iPhones running Apple A16Z SoC (which doesn't exist btw, it's A12Z or A16)

Re:Fast KV Compaction via Attention Matching on Friday February 20, 2026 @07:55AM (#47087419)
This is big for long-horizon tasks
Re:The path to ubiquitous AI (17k tokens/sec) on Friday February 20, 2026 @07:46AM (#47087348)
Verification is faster than generation, one forward pass for verification of multiple tokens vs a pass for every new token in generation

Re:GPSJam: Daily maps of possible GPS interference on Friday October 13, 2023 @12:49PM (#37872653)
Looks great! Is it possible to increase the resolution? Each hexagon cover too much area

Ask HN: How to use AI to code in a non-degenerative way?

How to use AI to code in a non-degenerative way?AI coding assist (ChatGPT / GitHub Copilot) can do so much with zero thinking on our part. Refactor code, think of architectures, process data, use APIs, etc. This is very degenerative.I want to find a way to use AI to help me speed up coding without it being degenerative to my skills.I have 4 years of full-time experience, so I got a lot of the...

You articulated it perfectly. I felt exactly what you're describing now while reading the comments to a post about mindfulness a couple of days ago, but I didn't know how to phrase it.

Thank you!
