I'll leave this here. AT&T Labs is still doing interesting things.

Good stuff. I'd be interested in sorting that by stock to see what stocks they (including their spouses/sig-oth) all are purchasing.

The $250/$500k is a one-time benefit and you will absolutely take advantage of it when you sell your home.

The idea of taxing this "profit" for the home owner would be insane. The investment and re-investment in real-estate drives a big majority of the economy.

I'm for modifying 1031 for investors who rent their properties. \

What's going on here in Myanmar should be a lesson to all people.

Here is the US, I'd like to see a lobby to have Communications Act amended to remove any power of the government or business to shut down communications networks, systems or inter-connections.

This idea that governments can protect us from ourselves is foolish.

The irony is that a few years ago everyone thought the telco's were going to be the ones to control what you see/do on the internet. lol

Has this become an anti-trust issue (assuming there is a way to tie it to the Sherman Act) based on monopoly power? Google and Apple have 99.83% market share, owning both the platforms and distribution? Is it time to break these up?

Probably the most accurate of all reasons for lack of options

Hopefully someone here can shed some light on my limited understanding regulations, but aren't internet services, because they are inter-state in nature out of the jurisdiction of the state?

Wait... does hitting the mute button solve this invasion of privacy?
In all seriousness, I thumbs up (on LinkedIn) the birthday of a colleague who passed away a couple of years ago.

Yep. Probably a MDM application like MobileIron or Airwatch.

Your wife made a decision most people miss because they are so used to skipping to yes. And wouldn't it suck if your IT department wiped your entire personal device including those vacation pictures of your recently deceased grandma. This happens way more often then you know.

This total control decision is why a container approach (give power to wipe what is the container only) to enabling corporate data is one I favor.

Re:F.C.C. Asks AT&T for Details on Plans to Halt Fiber Expansion on Saturday November 15, 2014 @11:31AM (#8611994)
> I surprisingly have very little choice when it comes to the internet. Comcast is basically the only real choice as they blow away DSL speeds, and then that's that. No one else serves me as a consumer. And this is San Francisco! I think this is why municipalities are starting to get into the ISP business, which seems to be the only credible way to start actually giving these guys some kind of threat

San Francisco is a city where red tape, bureaucracy and the people will not allow another local access provider build.

http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/ATT-Sues-San-Francisco-Ov...

If San Francisco decided to build a municipal fiber network, they would be sued into bankruptcy by the ISP’s.

Re:Net Neutrality Is Just a Symptom on Thursday November 13, 2014 @10:22PM (#8605664)
Domestically, this is called a tariff. The local carriers file them with the local public utility commissions. They are all posted publicly and outline the service, capability, features and customer costs.

Someone here probably knows, but I am sure any service provider (LEC, CLEC, Municipality) has to file tariffs in order to get approval to deliver service.

AT&T and Netflix signed an interconnection agreement, so LEC three must be CenturyLink (who also announced a 1Gb broadband trial in Portland)

Re:SaleInvaders: Rent-a-sales organization on Monday June 23, 2014 @01:28PM (#7933173)
This is a valid concern. Another issue with outsourced sales people is the fact they are out for themselves first. Sales people are coin operated... and you want them this way. However, you must be careful and shape the way they are paid to align with your business goals.

As a start up, you may be better off hiring a direct marketing company where you can align their focus to your ideal customer profile (assuming this grows as your product develops). You pay them to set appointments at the correct title/level (which is 90% of the work in sales) and you use your dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge to get the deal closed.
