Re:Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5 on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @05:03AM (#50270852)
small (700b) open-weights models are great at coding and tool calling but lack world knowledge. because the parameter difference is so huge T to B, of course they also are not as intelligent.

this is i think the difference in this new analysis.

doesnt mean deepseek is bad or useless.

> $38 of revenue per GPU

its per GPU-cluster, not a single gpu.

Re:Amazon's "Digital Pacifier" for Toddlers on Monday October 26, 2026 @04:04AM (#50240586)
doesnt HAVE to be old.

just a regular PC with keyboard mouse monitor and the unit.

edit: maybe a DVD unit for reading AND writing disks.

Re:Amazon's "Digital Pacifier" for Toddlers on Monday October 26, 2026 @04:01AM (#50240561)
when i was around 8-9? i got my first "PC".

but thing is, it was not a whole PC. it was just the keyboard...

i played with that keyboard for 1 year before my family could afford to buy the rest of the PC.

in that year i learned the position of every key and would show off to friends how i can find any key, with my eyes closed.

Re:Upcoming Critical PHP Security Release on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @07:56AM (#50179410)
while waiting for the official patch, run this read-only script to check /var/www for changes and other things.

https://gist.github.com/SourceCodeplz/82f07c94ca7aa036875622...

i understand the adoption for these things is off the charts.

usage-time growing fast, with tasks and cron jobs.

in the last spacex earnings report (few hours ago), Elon said he thinks their grok-bot will next year make up most of their AI inference usage across their datacenters.

basically he tried to imply these bots/personal-agents get lots of usage once users start customizing them. and it is bringing in a lot of money in API usage.

Re:The Future of CSS on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @03:28AM (#50177221)
i also found this to be even more powerful today with AI.

dont need to import libraries anymore, can just build my own.

Re:The Future of CSS on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @03:26AM (#50177209)
you can&should use AI to help you with frontend (css,js).

doesnt mean you tell it: make it look nice.

i find it is great if you want to apply your creativity and ideas.

how to add borders, gradients, animations, positioning, etc.

its a great time for everyone to build things, just how they want/imagine them.

AI is a tool nowadays, cant ban it.

plenty of games made with AI that are fun.

due to its popularity with self hosting by both individuals and companies, the deepseek model, its weights, can easily represent the whole of deepseek.

so if they say dont use deepseek, it means dont use the company & dont use the model. it is the only reasonable way to read this. you are looking for doorways where there arent any reasonable ones.

well for example in Romania (EU member state), they canceled the presidential elections (2024) after they were won by a person no one knew anything about.

he posted & advertised heavily nationalistic videos on tiktok and gained huge following.

court said the election had been affected by irregularities, alleged foreign interference, and problems with campaign financing and online campaigning.

Re:Namecheap just seized and disabled all my domains on Sunday October 18, 2026 @03:10PM (#50144257)
yep, social approval and good faith will always get you constant business (word of mouth - recommendations).

but "numbers guys" say no, we need squeeze profits short term..

Re:Namecheap just seized and disabled all my domains on Sunday October 18, 2026 @02:10PM (#50143705)
namecheap purchased by private equity CVC in 2025 for $1.5B

so costs need to go down (-human support + ai automation)

and prices go up (they increased i think .com 3 times this year alone)

Re:DeepSeek-v4.1-Flash-1017 on Saturday October 17, 2026 @10:57AM (#50131719)
at this point there are 100s of benchmarks.

so AI labs can just pick which to show

that "cold gas" is actually just regular air.

it fills its tanks with air from the atmosphere.

Re:Muse Spark Open on Thursday October 15, 2026 @02:11PM (#50107775)
its around 20tps
Re:Muse Spark Open on Thursday October 15, 2026 @02:08PM (#50107709)
from what i understand its somewhere between muse spark 1.3 and 1.2 in some coding benches.
maybe it is a form of control.

if anyone could broadcast to so many so easily, that is considered dangerous nowadays. if there is no one there to receive (no one remembers AM, no AM receivers), you can still broadcast but no one will listen.

Re:OpenCode 2.0 on Thursday October 15, 2026 @07:35AM (#50102227)
true but from what i found, the opencode team tested these prompts and evaluated that a bigger prompt is better for some models, overall.

very possible that a smaller more custom system prompt (+ custom tools) could work better for specific use cases.

Re:OpenCode 2.0 on Thursday October 15, 2026 @06:58AM (#50101932)
haven't upgraded yet to 2.0 but wanted to comment and just say thanks to the opencode/anomaly team for the generous (no-login) free tier.

you install the software and it just works, no login no nothing.
