How do I opt out? More fundamentally, the lack of an answer to this question is the reason it's bullshit.

Having written an interpreter for Wasm (Wasm3), you're right, it's not an ideal format for direct interpretation. Wasm3 does a transcoding pass first to optimize for speed, but we still have it running on some pretty constrained devices.

Thanks for the links! I've long searched google trying to find a similar "tail-cail" interpreter. No wonder I couldn't hit anything -- it was so poorly named! :)

Yeah, totally. Now that the instagram influencer market is fading, chronic disease is the new bandwagon pathway to internet success.

I would have prefered the adjective "clever" over "shocking" :) But you're absolutely correct: it does rely entirely on tail-call optimizations. I hadn't seen this as an actual real world concern. Its stack usage is sufficiently minimal for debugging and development of the project itself. And production code would only ever be optimized. Maybe there are risks I can't foresee, but I'm gonna keep at it 'cause the upside is a blazingly fast interpreter.

There's a simple solution to any problem related to Facebook. Stop using it.

I'm working on a Wasm interpreter. Yes, Wasm ideally needs a smaller page size for embedded applications. But, the 64kB page size is more of an interoperability specification. If you own the environment and you're already doing bounds checking on memory accesses, you can treat the memory size as virtual and dynamically allocate only what is used.

Make this. Somebody make this. Maybe it's not the obnoxious, catch-phrasey SaaS bulls*t you wanted to do, but it will change the world and you can be proud that you made it. There are millions of blind people in the world. They shuffle around with rudimentary technology. Literally sticks. But they still have ears. Synesthesia. Process the visual 3D world with a camera. Use head tracking. Convert it into an immersive three-dimensional auditory world. A curb sounds like a stream. A tree sounds like rustling leaves. A pole is an electric arc. Traffic lights are pings. Red lights, walk signs all have a distinctive sound replicated in 3D auditory world that maps as closely as possible to the actual world. We have the technology. You can build it. Not only would it radically improve the lives of blind people, it would be a blast for the sighted to design and refine. Like a real life video game that actually matters to someone.
