Re:How we upgraded our 4TB Postgres database on Wednesday April 20, 2022 @07:20AM (#31095273)
Great post! Did you migrate your old database to Azure Flexible Server, Hyperscale (Citus) or a standalone VM, as Postgres 13 does not seem to be available for Azure Postgres Single Server.
Re:Ask HN: Have you switched from management to IC? on Wednesday June 23, 2021 @07:19AM (#27603154)
I was in management for 4 years and moved to another company as an IC. There was a lot of responsibility and stress being a manager and it was taking a toll on my health. I'm now a lot more happier and healthier in my technical role and it actually pays more too!
Staying in the first company of my professional career for too long. I would have learnt more and earned more if I moved companies regularly early on.
Not quite sure you mean by "generate a queue".

But if you mean message queue, you could create a python script that parses the text file using regex and place messages in a AWS SQS queue.

Simplest way to use across computers would be just to transfer the script to each computer you use.

How does Millet and Tune's DDD book compare with Eric Evans? Are they both worth reading?
Sounds like you're in a high management role with potentially a lot of power. Why don't you control you're environment to make it more suitable for you? Delegate tasks you don't like. Make other people attend meetings for you.
Re:Terraforming 1Password on Saturday January 27, 2018 @07:37PM (#16248974)
With infrastructure in multiple regions, do you have independent Aurora databases running in each region? Do you have any data synchronising between regions or are they running completely independently?
Re:Terraforming 1Password on Saturday January 27, 2018 @07:32PM (#16248958)
One major drawback of Cloudformation is its inability to view changesets of nested templates.
What would you recommend for both?

Sounds like us. Either that or my wife and I would take turns carrying our kid around while the other finishes off their meal.

Re:A Vast, 430-Year-Old World Map on Tuesday January 09, 2018 @05:50AM (#16105103)
Beautiful map. Reminds me of the maps in the LOTR books.
Amazing product. Curious on what their stack is like?
Re:Ask HN: What are some interesting books you read in 2017? on Tuesday January 02, 2018 @08:52AM (#16051810)
Sapiens. An insightful book on the history of humankind and its possible future.
