You can just say Chromium

Re:But what if I want a faster horse? on Friday April 11, 2025 @06:09PM (#43659213)
What frustrates me is that many people that claim to want a faster horse don’t actually use them where they are available

Bandcamp to me is the ideal “horse” for music (and I’m praying it stays a horse)

Those complaining about Chrome dominance but still not personally using Firefox is another example (even with all of Mozilla’s controversies, Firefox is still the “fastest horse” available imo)

Not being satisfied with the horse selection is understandable, but actively furthering the obsolescence of the available horses is not (even if the individual impact is minimal)

They do (in Debug and ReleaseSafe modes)

Re:Welcome to Ladybird, a truly independent web browser on Thursday February 27, 2025 @10:05PM (#43201270)
Fast is the last adjective I’d use to describe Ladybird in its current state
You’re one sale behind the times, Bandcamp was sold to Songtradr in 2023

Thanks, wasn’t aware of that context

How does it look like that?

Just so I understand, what would be the question here?

Re:Ask HN: Why are so many OSS communities on Discord? on Saturday September 23, 2023 @03:16PM (#37626425)
Yeah, it works and people like using it. One example:

> Less than a year ago, we were an IRC channel with ~160 peak concurrent users.

> Super happy that we made the move, as it allowed us to scale both our processes and the community itself!

Here’s a list of rejected proposals made by the BDFL:

How would you determine if someone found something helpful?

Re:Why do we stop exploring new music as we get older? on Monday February 27, 2023 @05:14PM (#34962715)
Make a Bandcamp account and follow users that buy music similar to your tastes. Then, semi-frequently, browse through the feed of everything your followed users have bought recently and sample it until you find something you like. Prune and add followed users as necessary to make it more likely to find something you like.
Depends on if “attempt to sell it back to you” is an accurate framing

This didn’t ever happen, but may happen in the future. The usage of the WASI blob is a temporary alternative.

AFAIK there will be a forthcoming blog post that’ll clear things up.

This is my thinking too. A maximally useful code AI would include verbatim reproduction (since presumably the code it was trained on was written that way for a reason relevant to its function). A maximally useful art AI has comparatively little reason to ever want to output verbatim training inputs.
Re:Zig Is Self-Hosted Now, What's Next? on Tuesday October 25, 2022 @03:27PM (#33335037)
stage1 is the non-self-hosted compiler (the one written in C++)

Final numbers don’t seem believable. Steam alone has 50,000+ games listed.

Interesting! YogsCinema still runs every day during “offline” hours on twitch.tv/yogscast, I wonder what’s backing it now

> Andy Kelly (a "competitor") criticized the author's behavior, but he's also gone silent on the topic of V because of the vitriol he encountered

AFAIK your stated reason for the silence is not accurate. Andy’s criticisms were always based on V making claims that no one could evaluate because it was closed source/unreleased (and then used those claims to solicit money from people). Once V was made open source, those criticisms no longer applied, as things like TFA could be written.

Re:SerenityOS Browser now passes the Acid3 test on Wednesday March 30, 2022 @04:05PM (#30860142)
AFAIK SerenityOS has no interest in users, and instead targets developers exclusively.

In Zig, those functions are in std.mem (distinct from std.ascii and std.unicode)

As I understand it, it differs depending on state law.
Comparing is not equating. The only thing being compared is the “when in Rome” aspect.
