Ask HN: Is anyone else just tired of JavaScript?

Posted by somerando on Wednesday May 23, 2018 @02:33PM
from the ask-hn dept.

I don't see what problems it solves. Rather, the "problems" that is solves are not really problems to me. I want to develop software in a stack that is entirely free of Javascript. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

This comparison is ridiculous. Searching the internet can be imperfect, it can be lossy, and there aren't any real consequences. We are talking about an ad platform after all. If you search for kittens and you get back 345 results or 101 results or 2345 results, does it really matter? No, it has no consequence to anyone.

Outside of work, I know a number of folks with degrees from Stanford, Berkeley, Santa Clara. These folks are not in tech. They love to bust on San Jose State University like its the worst thing ever.

At work, in tech, I know a number of folks with degrees from San Jose State University. They are hard working and successful millionaires.

The folks in the first group would LITERALLY DIE if their kids went to San Jose State University.

It makes me sad/angry for them that they feel there is NO OPTION other than to get their kids into Stanford/Berkeley/Santa Clara at all costs.

I don't see what is so wrong with gentrification. As the economy expands and people become more prosperous, it restores blighted parts of the city to their full potential.

I also think that rent control is disrespectful to the rights of the property owner. Other than making sure that there is no discrimination, and that properties aren't fire traps, government should get out of the way.
