It picks up on specific types of rice - e.g. "white rice", "jasmine rice", and "brown rice" all work.

Re:Show HN: GeoDJ - listen to music from around the world on Monday September 30, 2013 @12:05PM (#6470324)
This was our weekend project for the DjangoDash hackathon.

To create it, we scraped a bunch of music data from Last.fm and MusicBrainz, and currently have over 2,000 artists from 200+ countries.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Re:Our weekend hack on GoCardless - HipBucket on Monday April 02, 2012 @12:54PM (#3788990)
"HipBucket is the Doodle for online payments" was the first thing my eyes were drawn to, yet this sentence is difficult to process--maybe you could reword this? It looks like a cool idea though!
Re:How Reddit ranking algorithms work on Thursday March 22, 2012 @06:26PM (#3742363)
Note that this article is from 2010. The most recent code for the Reddit ranking algorithms is here:

https://github.com/reddit/reddit/blob/master/r2/r2/lib/db/_s...

It looks like they've tweaked the confidence sort algorithm a bit.

Re:Show HN: Find new music with your friends on Sunday September 18, 2011 @09:08PM (#3011796)
How do "cool points" work? Also, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to search for specific artists or tracks.

Otherwise, I like the idea and had some fun discovering new artists.

Re:Facebook Google in 2010 in visits. wow. on Wednesday December 29, 2010 @07:02PM (#2050655)
According to this study, "visits to Google properties combined cover 9.85% of all site visits". Google.com makes up 7.19%, and YouTube.com makes up 2.65%, combined for a total of 9.84%.

Do the rest of the Google properties (Blogger, Orkut, etc) really only cover 0.01% of all site visits?

Re:Where Pair Programming Fails for Me on Wednesday December 29, 2010 @06:45PM (#2050618)
After a few months of pair programming, I can only agree. At points, when my partner saw a better way of doing things, it was insightful. In the end, however, we found that it was more efficient to split up the work, merging code when necessary.

If you're just looking for something to put a laptop on while standing, an adjustable music stand works nicely.
Re:Is it too early to consider 3D html? on Thursday April 22, 2010 @11:57AM (#1285432)
Researchers at UC Berkley and Microsoft Research have suggested that 3D displays are bad for your eyes:

3D HTML could be cool, but I'm a bit concerned about the possible long-term side effects.
