Thanks, have dropped them an email to see if they can support what we're after. Appreciate it.

Thanks guys, sounds promising, will look into it.

API for secure data storage?

Have a payments problem we're trying to solve, would love HN input! Our platform needs to make several payments to suppliers each week, the problem is we don't want to store our suppliers bank details. Unfortunately the only payment method possible right now is via a bank specific file (*.aba) and is manual, but to create that file we need to have stored our customers bank details...Does anyone...

Re:Show HN: Instagram and Facebook Photos Delivered Monthly on Friday August 23, 2013 @02:16AM (#6261989)
I like the idea, but not a fan of a stranger going through my facebook photos each month to make recommendations.
"I'm okay with it if he truly does bring in work and isn't just dicking around all day"

I think if that is the attitude you're taking going into this, partnering is a bad idea. You will constantly be judging & nit picking his every action.

Re:Help HN: How do I stop my start-up from being bullied? on Thursday June 20, 2013 @06:01PM (#5915246)
Surely this can't come as a surprise to you.

You started a business in the same industry as freelancer.com, leveraged off their service and have an almost identical name; how did you think they would respond?

Re:Camp - beautiful Basecamp iPhone app on Tuesday February 12, 2013 @12:55AM (#5205415)
Given the official app has been released for free, why would we pay for this one?
In hmexx's scenario, once the MVP is ready, the developer has received the full amount of cash which is likely the main incentive.

In your proposition, the main incentive is your coding ability.

The key difference is that in the first scenario, the cash is a measurable benefit. In your scenario, your coding ability is uncertain, it could be worth more or less than the cash you are requesting - it's hardly worth gambling 50% equity on ones self-proclaimed ability.

This proposition provides far less value than hmexx's.

I understand what you're saying about "execution" being more important than the idea - that is true, but execution also means follow through. Building an MVP and then ditching it to pursue "the next project" is not execution, that's just pure labor, which anyone can find for far cheaper on elance.

A simple, yet extremely useful site. Love it; I can see myself regularly using this.
Re:Ask HN: Please critique my cover letter and settle a debate on Thursday August 23, 2012 @10:26AM (#4422526)
I prefer this to the standard cover letter, but make sure you don't come across too arrogant. e.g. this line is unnecessary in my opinion: "Do you remember your first CS class? How there were a few people who just couldn’t handle the obscure bugs and the hours upon hours of staring at the screen and they ended up dropping out?".
Re:Ask HN: What to do about non-performing "founder" on Wednesday May 16, 2012 @04:41AM (#3981071)
Did you mention to him during the first 3 months that he was not performing?

If not, it seems to me like you might just be looking for an excuse not to pay him because you can not afford to.

I think the issue you will face is agreeing on whether or not you have sent "quality" names.

I wouldn't pay for a service which is based on a flat fee unless there was some quality guarantee.

Basecamp (37signals) was created as an internal tool and ended up being so useful they developed it into a product.
Beautiful site, great UX.

I will be signing up and if the videos are as good as the samples I'll definitely be sticking around; worth $49 a month for sure. I love that you guys are trying to tackle this end-to-end - ambitious, but I hope you pull it off.

Thanks for the advice, I'll take that onboard and see what else we can come up with for the first slide - what you have said makes sense.

Side note: I am currently looking for a co-founder CTO to help with continuous improvements/iterations, so if anyone is interested, please get in touch via email (in the profile).

We paid to have it done, but created the script... I am not that creative :)
Re:Show HN: Update on my startup - very overdue. on Thursday November 03, 2011 @04:58AM (#3190893)
Hi Tarekayna,

That has probably been the most consistent feedback we have received - "nothing to prompt me once I log in". I'm glad you pointed that out as well.

The quick tour is a great idea.

Re:Show HN: Update on my startup - very overdue. on Thursday November 03, 2011 @04:56AM (#3190889)
Fair point.

I'm actually not marketing for customers yet, just trying to get some feedback.

Re:Show HN: Update on my startup - very overdue. on Thursday November 03, 2011 @04:55AM (#3190885)
Hi Tamle,

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Good point re text over video. I'm working on this now.

Our initial target market are people who currently own one investment property and are managing it themselves the hard way - going around to collect payments, cashing checks, calling tenants to remind them etc.

Cheers Ash

Re:Show HN: Update on my startup - very overdue. on Thursday November 03, 2011 @04:53AM (#3190880)
Hi Koosh,

The service providers will be paying to be listed in the directory. Also, specific payment methods will incur a charge.

We will be using various real estate websites to find tenants. Free listings will include craigslist/gumtree with paid listings going to sites such as zoopla, findaproperty etc

Thanks for the feedback :)

Show HN: Update on my startup - very overdue.

When I see what some HN members have done in a weekend on their projects, it makes it hard to confess that it has taken us 1 year to get to this stage.I kept trying to make things perfect, but finally I have seen the light - it will never be perfect and even in its current state, I see so much we need to improve, but it's something.Instead of delaying even more, I thought I would release it to...

That is impressively creepy. Wow. Anyone know the background?
