Re:Google insider exposes ‘immoral’ tax scam on Saturday May 18, 2013 @08:26PM (#5731119)
It's immoral that governments take poeples money and use it for intents orthogonal to those original people intents, e.g. war, subsidies to monopolies such as the oil industry, corruption, etc.

Google on the other hand provides a great services for free and acessible to everyone. I would prefer my taxes to go to google; and if they would become government they would be much more efficient than any government out there.

By the way google if you want a toy country to try stuff, try Portugal. This goverment could use some help and they are some nice people who support the private initiative.

Re:Microsoft is killing Linux shops with Secure Boot on Sunday May 05, 2013 @09:17AM (#5658263)
Politicy makers are dumb. They took ages to resolve an issue such as availability to choose the default browser on an operating system, yet, in their closed world of waiting for their retirement checks, they, and their fault of ideals in their confortable sofas do no address the :

simple issue of hardware and operating system separation.

Re:An open-source fully homomorphic encryption library on Tuesday April 30, 2013 @05:20AM (#5631133)
Normally i contact the authors of GPL code and ask them nicely to move to LGPL. It has been working so far.
Replace all comments with: Use web2py instead of django
The most boring presentation ever. He is like, so i created google, so i don't have to make an effort to show excitement in my new product, that's for the marketing and sales.

No onstage demo, jizuz i always present my stuff live ! that's where the emotions are.

Re:Tizen 2.0 Magnolia SDK and Source Code Release on Thursday March 21, 2013 @08:30AM (#5414546)
I don't get all the development... so is this like an html5 player ? linux + some webkit ? what's the novelty ?

Again a bunch of developers working for free on Samsung (20% of SK GDP) plan C mobile phone OS ?

Re:Twitter granted patent on Twitter-like services on Wednesday March 20, 2013 @09:40AM (#5407161)
If the guy that invented sms patented 140 char messages there would be no twitter. Or irc messages, or smoke signals, or X where one people sends a text message to others. Patents are a bureocratic perversion that do not acomplish any progress to humanity, they just perpetuate the bureocratic system itself.
Re:Google Drive Realtime API on Tuesday March 19, 2013 @06:06PM (#5403923)
Google closing reader was probably something to do with the French un-digital papers that wanted the interwebs going to their website-o-pages to read content there.
Re:“The AT&T Hacker” Sentenced To 41 Months In Prison on Monday March 18, 2013 @01:13PM (#5395561)
The only crime here is the judges act to take life time of someone that caused no harm.
Re:Huginn, an Open Source IFTTT / Yahoo Pipes on Thursday March 14, 2013 @07:50PM (#5378359)
Should have been coded in python :( . Whenever i see a project that i think is cool and then see that it has been coded in languages other than js, c++ or python i consider it just for my usage, and not for my contributions as developer.

Re:Dropbox Sync API on Thursday March 07, 2013 @05:28AM (#5337000)
I could use this for a Qt app. Why not a c or c++ api instead of IOs and android ?
Re:Teach kids to farm, not code. on Sunday March 03, 2013 @07:23AM (#5313488)
I divide my days into coding and planting seeds+farming, and i like very much both tasks. My opinion is that there is a bandwidth for everything, but kids should follow their passions and do what they love best.

When i'll be a parent i'll teach them this because it's lovely, and that ! oh but this skill is amazing also ! There is bandwidth for most everything but above all your kids will copy you and see what you love and probably get inspired to follow their own path.

So teach them to do what they love and love what they do ! and teach them to feel happy above all. But teach them by being that example yourself !

Manning was just a kid, playing games, never thought he was doing something that these skeletors of society would pursue him in the future for.

And again, something that had no consequences gets a kid to suffer the rest of his life, just to keep military and courts and other "serious people" all of which that could also be seen as criminals of bigger crimes such as inflicting pain for a living (military instead of farmers and abundance, lawyers and judges instead of friendship and disputes in games and drinks). And these military go to war with the mote to spread freedom and democracy, what for ? to arrest kids for life ?

Skeletors of the world... grow up, relax, have a beer and life for the swords to plow shares or tanks to tractors, or drones to aerial seed planters!

Re:Ubuntu Rolling Release Proposal on Thursday February 28, 2013 @04:31PM (#5301166)
I can't use Ubuntu, I've tried countless times, the experience sucks. I'm trying mint, and i can't even access latest libraries, everything is old, no partition resizing during installation, lack of distro tools and lack of polish; in mageia everything is fresh and if it not the free support quickly updates them.

Mandriva had rolling releases with cooker and mageia has also with cauldron. Sorry for looking like a troll but i never got the hype with this ubuntu distro, i wish HN supported mageia more since distrowatch even reports mageia as the number two more popular distro.

The creators of DF could partner with some game studio to create a nice GUI for playing, or create an API that could allow for beter interfaces to evolve, the tilesets are great, but custom tutorials would be awesome. I tried playing DF once but was overwhelmed with the information and didn't try again, and i used to play nethack and adom.

I also recommend ADOM for those who like nethack and redrogue that is a roguelike meets platformer, very nice !

Re:Sony Pirates KDE Artwork on Thursday February 21, 2013 @09:14AM (#5257458)
Damages ? is easy just count the people in the hospital for this.

A way to compensate is to link to the original artist page and maybe buy a license from him.

What about a petition to prevent lawmakers from creating legislation that turns regular people into criminals. One simple legislation to rule them all. The GOML (Get off my lawn) law.
Re:Is 2013, the year of Linux gaming? on Friday February 15, 2013 @10:40AM (#5226648)
The two games i enjoyed the most in 2012 were played in linux: FTL Faster Than light, Redrogue. I don't care much about fancy graphics, i prefer a good story and gameplay.
Could the guy responsible for making the contents of his hd available online do it so. Use the dd command by the way, don't just copy files.
Cheaper solution:

- Make people ride bicicles.

- Reduce work hours to 4 / day.

- Make it expensive to buy gas. So people ride bikes and so that Electric vehicles that are charged by solar panels increase.

- People will be fitter, happier, more producive and more imaginative and with free time to plant trees also.

Re:Kinda like apt-get, but for Windows on Wednesday February 06, 2013 @06:19AM (#5175852)
I use pycmd -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/pycmd/ Also tried console2, and zsh win32 variants i found.
What i mean is that democracy can be "hacked", e.g.:

1)First empoverish people, them give them presents (like a government job) and then just keep them at those (sheep) jobs voting for whatever your will, or else they lose their jobs. This is to what i see as the current trend.

Solutions: 1) 6 hours max work hours, instead of 8. More creativity, no unemployment and more happiness, health and society involment (e.g. making friends and "art").

2) Simple law, like the one i proposed before, and easy to learn. Test it with a 6 year old. When people start an ecosystem around crime it will only generate more crime, since the ecosystem wants to thrive.

3) a github like collaborative space for science, cities, etc. Goal, e.g. : to establish a moon colony, or to eliminate diseases or pain, or get to immortality. Btw dear rich people you will die someday and your statistical chances are to reincarnate in some baby in a poor country.

Better than democracy, where a majority can impose rules on a few, it would be better we had a strict laws that could be learned by 5 year old in under 5 minutes, like, "thou shall not impose your will or arm another".

And then have groups of people that just get together to grow and/or share on some ideals.

github > democracy > republic.

His punishment is work for the public good for X hours in a way he chooses. He chooses to digitalize and publish works of creativity that deserves to be seen by the masses. As he already done that already; he gets as change, the thank you from the public and a medal for his work even going against the laws.
Re:U.S. Senator Questions Attorney General about Aaron Swartz on Friday January 18, 2013 @05:24PM (#5081422)
Puppets, strings, now it's calling for it's right of FOIA ? Can't they just recognize they should not have the right to mess with individuals, specially if no harm is done.

These prosecutors jobs is a dream job for psycopaths, jack the ripper would exceed in a job like this.

We need the hacker news party.

The people need a new party to defend their interests. The do not bully party.
