They should follow the more familiar pattern of CSS libraries with a series of simple examples. I feel this reads more like a paper.
Basic income without universal housing, healthcare and education is more-or-less a poverty sentence.
One obscure issue that ends with the comment "It's slow but I don't think it's the crippling bug I first thought it was." hardly supports a claim that " Angular4 suffers from the same slow down/performance problems as Angular 1.x."
> 17.an amazing IDE - it has a tool to debug macros!
This may be true for an experienced user, but I've mainly used VS Code/Atom/Sublime etc, and I did not enjoy DrRacket -- I'm assuming that's what you're talking about. Some of the dropdown menus didn't render for me, and while this may sound stupid, I had the damnedest time figuring out that half my screen was a REPL and the other half a file.
I'm still slightly confused. The author suggests that a monad is composed of 3 functions. It seems to me you've shown 2 of these functions.
a -> m b
>>=
What is the third function? Did I misunderstand you?
How does that differ from saying the same thing about say webpack -- ie, "the build is documented in the webpack config"?
> Boser explains why some of the most common ways we try to memorize information are actually totally ineffective, and he reveals what to do instead.
I couldn't get past the first paragraph. I don't think memorisation and learning should be conflated as it appears to be in this article. Perhaps it's the fault of the title -- clickbait?
> You can use History PushState [0] and CustomEvents [1] to handle routing.
Can you please expand on this?
Oh, a Wire reference on HN... my life is one step closer to completion.
Is the xkcd Appropriate Standards strip appropriate here?
Why should hackers be gender neutral or agender/androgynous?
I did get the impression he was quite accomplished -- given his acknowledgement from NASA -- so I guess... success?
Oh, thanks for clarifying. I misunderstood.
I'll be damned if I'm going to let my boss tell me if I can write a WordPress plugin on my own time.
Yes, sure is one hell of an "improvement"!
This seems like good advice for younger adults, or even teenagers, entering the workforce.
Call me a pessimist but I doubt the vast majority of people will ever find true mentorship. Would it be nice to have a more experienced and talented developer take a personal interest in your career and technical development? yes, of course it would, but it's unlikely at best. I'm sure self study, discipline and "grit" matter far more.
> 2. Attend every lecture and take notes very few if any notes. Most of what you need is in the book and math is about understanding. You cannot grok and write at the same time, and it's better to try to grok while an expert is explaining it to you.
My highschool calc teacher gave us the same advice and I carried it through uni.
You could try playing video games with an in-game voice chat. Although, please, be cautious as some gamers have extremely poor manners and can be offensive.
> Elm has inspired other frameworks in Purescript and the development of ReactJS
Can you give a few examples? Google is not being helpful.
I was in a similar boat and I recommend angular2 using the CLI. The build process is totally abstracted and the nice thing about angular is that you're never really going to be wondering what router do I use etc, because the framework is full featured. Plus it's fairly intuitive. It will be more complex than a jQuery powered Web page, but I think these SPA frameworks assume you're trying to make a more complex application, ie if you can build the same thing using jQuery, then just use jQuery -- unless it's an educational exercise.
I'm not sure if you can describe modern democracies as a will of the majority -- marijuana legalization, civil rights movements, anti war sentiments as examples.
It seems to me that most job adverts require a technical degree or relevant experience. I feel that very few jobs would make a distinction between a SE or CS degree.
Why would I use this (windows server 2k16 + Microsoft SQL) vs a linux image + Postgres? Does anyone have any insight in this comparison? It seems to me that this stack is expensive and will likely have less documentation, but I could be wrong on this and there may be very good benefits. Comments appreciated.
> The best programmers that I've met just loved the art and science of computing, had respect for their craft and very high standards of quality, were undaunted or even motivated by new challenges, but most importantly, put in the necessary time.
This description doesn't conjure the image of a person unable to understand pointers.
It sounds odd to me that an app would include packages that have dependencies on a framework. I'm having a hard time picturing an example, can you provide one?
Isn't it more of an opinion than an objective truth? ie, it doesn't really need a source.
Isn't that more of problem with adds or 3rd party JS?
