Marketing came to the conclusion that people dont know what they actually want. They decided to lump in engineers and programmers as well, since they started abusing their goodwill.

This is more or less the go-to standard in the usa. One property manager handles possibly hundreds in an association, or dozens of townhomes, and will refuse to speak to you directly, except through a maintenance request system. Its incredibly depressing

>As I am fond of saying, he’s always “a day late and a dollar short” by ‘exposing’ scams after they have already run their course or ‘rug pulled’

So.. the author wants him to tell us before it happens, and be right?

There was one going on with MrBeast and some crypto, and there was one of Paul brothers and his scam game that he predicted correctly before it went south?

Should he stop explaining these scams after they happen, too? Why is that such an issue?

What a sad way to live life, for a man to miss the chains he wears in enslavement, for he knows nothing else
207 billion to fund sam altmans greatest con on the world. Will it also be treated as "too big to fail", and be bailed out in the future, when it inevitably fails to deliver?
A shame to hear that heritage auctions were the ones to handle this

Not only do they type it in, they let them save their information...

We all say this when we don't have to cross this bridge yet. I hope you're as strong as you say you are when that day comes, I'm rooting for you

Took them long enough Besides, why bother using that, when you can use an open source alternative, like DP

I know the answer is that users have used hdmi longer

Slightly off topic

Are there any services on the market that allow you to self host email, but have your email forwarded to a reputable service to send / receive on your behalf?

Thats my ideal dream of self hosting email - encrypt and own the hardware, send and receive through a reputable ip to not deal with the politics and oppression of abuse by conglomerates

> Fidelity uses those funds as marketing, and they make up for it with all the other services and funds they offer. It's intentional, and it's working.

> Vanguard is more and more becoming a group that just wants to run ETFs and if you want to use them, they're making it harder and harder. They recently dumped all their 401(k) and similar plans from being in-house to some other provider.

If this is true, then it must for individuals.. My company moved a little over a year ago TO vanguard for 401ks

About 20 million votes less than the 2020 election, with about 15 million less for the democrats, and a measely 4 million less for the republicans. Thought that was interesting.

Re:Ask HN: How do you find a "boring" tech job? on Monday July 01, 2024 @07:24PM (#40851904)
This is a good piece of info. I work in a fortune 50 with this, but I do some modernizing for the company, to get them away from mainframe
A little while back, this guy and other online personalities were recording themselves avoiding paying for the trains in japan. It's on his youtube channel, actually

I did a project presentation at university back in 2014/2015 on vala. I remember liking it, but i wasnt yet competent enough to make a verdict. Cool to hear it's still kicking!
Re:Being laid off in 2023-2024 as an early-career developer on Wednesday March 27, 2024 @08:00PM (#39846151)
How did you go from 48 grand a year in salary, to 112 grand, in just 17 months?
The article seems lacking, and doesn't give much background on how we got to where the title came from. A shame, really. Im sure there're better articles out there
Anectodal, but my friend worked in a prison in illinois - he was forced to work 12 hour days, sometimes consecutively, while being constantly short staffed.

He ended up gaining about 30 pounds in about 6 months from the job, and could only get normal hours from a doctor telling them to stop working him to death.

Wonder how much longer people will put up with this before they simply sit out society, and quietly die. Better than dying exhausted, i suppose.

I hope they make a success story of what a stable country with a reasonable population can look like, although its incredibly complex to tell without the years to measure it

Havent left the seven seas since ive discovered it a decade ago. At this point the inconvenience of finding things doesnt even feel burdensome for myself and for the few i provide things. Not even in a private tracker, just a few semi private ones
