What do you mean debunked? It was NOT debunked. In fact, it has just recently been confirmed. Please, see this research paper - https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-021-01630-0.pdf – for men <40, dose 2 and dose 3 of Pfizer have more myocarditis than sars-cov-2 infection, and this is true for dose 1 and dose 2 of Moderna. Also, Pfizer boosters (Dose 3) have more myocarditis for men <40 than infection.
South Africa health minister confirmed that Omicron is a mild variant and is far less dangerous than Delta. It has also been confirmed that children:

1. Have higher chances of getting myocarditis after getting vaccinated.

2. Develop long lasting immunity after being exposed to the virus [1]

That makes me believe that there is absolutely no reason to vaccinate kids.

Lol to all the downvoters. You truly believe that everything cryptocurrency related is a scam and money laundering, whilst hidden-from-public-eyes banking ledger is saint? Take you pink sunglasses off, please.
and this is public ledger... imagine what's happening in the banking industry, where you can't see other people's money flowing around
Wow!! I was the one who not intentionally popularized USB Killer. It happened 4 years ago. I owned a website, where I published translations of articles and one of them was about USB Killer. The article[1] was #1 on Hacker News[2] for several hours and made it viral on all major online publications. What I saw next was crazy. People around the world started to experiment trying to re-create the device - youtube videos, articles, blog posts, etc. I received a ton of mails with clarifying questions about the circuit board and so on, but I had zero clue how it all worked, since I simply translated the original[3] article from Russian. And then someone finally recreated this USB and the whole thing became a little market. Niche websites started to sell it and the device was a lucrative product for youtube kids to make their videos more fun. Wow..

I'm in a similar niche. Anything you could recommend (books?) to learn more about the organization/design of large amount of data (i.e. choosing the right DB for Inventory Management System, designing complex schemas, etc.)
Re:Ask HN: What are some good technology blogs to follow? on Sunday March 12, 2017 @02:47PM (#13852309)
No one has mentioned https://kukuruku.co/. We translate popular and interesting tech articles to English. We are also working on letting users write and publish their own posts.

Our team is currently working on building a pretty big internal API from scratch. I took a look at some popular APIs (twitter, facebook, twilio, etc.) as a starting point. All of them has its own structure of the response, as well as the way you interact with those APIs, i.e. one may use `order` field to sort the resultset, while the other one prefers `sort_by` instead. There is definitely nothing wrong about that. But most of us like standards. We try to follow specifications as much as possible, at least to make things more predictable.

Long story short - we ended up with http://jsonapi.org/ - a complete specification for building JSON-based APIs. It supports such things as pagination, filtering, sorting, relationships, etc. All of us could implement it all very easily, but only God knows what is on the mind of an engineer, i.e. whether he likes /endpoint.json vs /endpoint?format=json.

Re:Why We Hurt Each Other: Tolstoy’s Letters to Gandhi on Thursday July 23, 2015 @12:19AM (#9933969)
I agree. The truth is that every so called leader always treats the current state of life as wrong. One may say there are too much violence, whilst the other one thinks there are not enough of love. A tiger eats a moose. Is it a "violence" or just a fact? A human kills a human. Is it a violence or just a fact? People tend to love/hate different minds. But the question is, why do those minds exist? Well, it's all about the timing I believe. Let's say there are two groups of people - group A and group B, 100 people each. While Group B lives in the perfect world where everyone loves each other and the sunrise is treated as a holiday, Group A experiencing hard times - internal conflicts, wars, hate and violence. But suddenly, there is a guy named A1 from group A who truly wants to live like people from group B. A1 could actually become a great sales person, because people tend to listen to him, however his goals are different. After a while, A1 becomes a reformer, a "legend". Word of mouth does the job and now even group B knows everything about him. In a few years, group B starts to experience problems, similar to what group A has had before. Now they need their own "leader". They truly do and they find one. More or less, the cycle repeats. The thing is that group B has never lived in the perfect world. They also had their own problems they had to deal with every day. At that time, those problems were just less stressful in comparison to the group A's "hell". It's all about timing and relativeness.

AFAIK, Gandhi was born in quite a rich family. He got a law degree in London. How many people from India have a chance to get a degree in London? Or, at the very least, maybe visit a London? I personally could only dream of that, even so, I wasn't born in India. The reason why I mentioned this fact is because of a psychological perception of higher-class people. In most cases, a poor man will always carefully listen to a person from a higher-class society. The fact that he used his power in, probably, the right way, deserves respect. At the same time, there are doubts as for the source of money while he was in Africa, which results to another set of questions.

I once read quite an interesting blog post (can't really find it now) from a guy who suddenly jumped from an engineering position to a CTO. The author was shocked by the fact how people became nice and careful to him. They stared to smile him, always listening to every single word he was pronouncing. Know what? At the very small level, he became "different".

I never treated Gandhi as someone special, but this is just because of my perception. As for the love and violence - there is no such thing as more love or less violence. There is life. There is love. There is violence.

I wonder if they could add a "weight" to each feature and then automatically determine the application size summarizing all the weights.

Agree. They are basically trying to "monopolize" the design.
Re:Google Design on Thursday May 28, 2015 @09:41PM (#9622253)
The first time I saw material design, I thought it's a cool concept. I liked it. I also liked applications built with this concept. At first, those apps looked...different. After several months, today, when I see anything designed with a material design idea behind it, I have a strange feeling. All the material applications/websites look like they were designed by the same designer. Imagine there are 10 websites and only one of them is designed with material concept. How hard would it be to find this 1 out of 10? It seems a fairly simple task to me. I'm not a designer, but I never had exactly the same feeling before (i.e. surfing through thousands of flat web sites). I'm not sure if I want to see thousands of material websites. Does anyone else experience the same?
