Re:SaaS Is Beautiful: 10 Key Facts About The Growing SaaS Market on Tuesday September 17, 2013 @08:31AM (#6398861)
Why do you think that is?

(Reason for asking: writing a book about SaaS. Writing a chapter on "why SaaS?" right now :))

FWIW, I am writing a book to get you some part of the way to your goal: http://www.howtofindsaasideas.com

It's about finding/extracting ideas (from domain experts) and then testing them quickly.

(Apologies for the terrible landing page)

(Apologies for the terrible landing page).

Re:Bootstrapping a $15m/yr lifestyle business on Thursday August 08, 2013 @07:00AM (#6178183)
FWIW, I'm writing a book on how to hopefully do just that: http://howtofindsaasideas.com/

(Apologies for the buggy landing page. New one coming soon. If signing up doesn't work, email me directly at [email protected] and I'll hook you up.)

Wow! That is very inspiring!

Maybe I could ask you a few questions over email? :)

As someone who is writing a book, that is hugely inspiring! Thanks!

Btw, does Gumroad support Bitcoins?

"Hemlis" is kid Swedish for "secret".
Re:Ask HN: What makes you go for it? on Sunday July 07, 2013 @09:27AM (#6001949)
How do you usually test if your project ideas have market fit?

I'm writing a book about this very topic so I'm very interested obviously :)

Re:AngularJS: an Overview on Sunday July 07, 2013 @04:46AM (#6001505)
One thing that really impressed me is how Angular does dependency injection, seemingly through magic.

This blog explains more: http://www.alexrothenberg.com/2013/02/11/the-magic-behind-an...

Re:Ask HN: what problems do you have in your company? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @04:22PM (#5992282)
I doubt it. At least not yet :)
Re:Ask HN: what problems do you have in your company? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @02:01PM (#5991744)
This is an interesting book about how to effect change in organizations: http://www.hackingwork.com/

Btw, what are some of those potential improvements that you have identified? :)

Have you considered Bitcoin for your payments?
Re:Is the term "lifestyle business" an insult? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @11:42AM (#5991126)
Trying to fix it but I think it may be a Launchrock issue.
Re:Is the term "lifestyle business" an insult? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @11:31AM (#5991062)
I'm thinking there might be a market for micro-investing in lifestyle businesses. Like Kiva for micropreneurs.
Re:Is the term "lifestyle business" an insult? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @11:29AM (#5991053)
Thanks, I'll look into it.
Re:Is the term "lifestyle business" an insult? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @11:10AM (#5990958)
Checked your profile page and you seem to be doing some fascinating things with your company. Mind telling us more? :)

(Emailed you btw).

Re:Is the term "lifestyle business" an insult? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @11:00AM (#5990914)
How did you come up with the idea for that? :)
Re:Is the term "lifestyle business" an insult? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @11:00AM (#5990911)
Btw, I would love to interview you. Can I email you?
Re:Is the term "lifestyle business" an insult? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @10:56AM (#5990896)
Shameless plug: I am working on a book on how to find and test ideas for lifestyle businesses. Target demographic: HN coders who want to quit their jobs and become patio11* :)

http://howtofindsaasideas.com/

(Yes, I know the landing page sucks. New one will be rolled out shortly. If you run into any problems email me directly: [email protected])

Would love any ideas and comments!

* I'm happy to let you know this SaaS demi-god has agreed to be interviewed in the book. Should be interesting.

Re:Ask HN: what problems do you have in your company? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @10:37AM (#5990799)
I'm kind of trying to teach the reader to become patio11 (and focusing on the initial stages of that).

So, yes :)

I'm still curious about tech companies run by HNers though. I mean there are plenty of SaaSes targeting those too (Github for instance).

Re:Ask HN: what problems do you have in your company? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @10:16AM (#5990712)
How about reducing pain/headaches? Is that also a valid concern? :)

Mind telling me a bit about how you do those 4 things you mentioned right now?

Re:Ask HN: what problems do you have in your company? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @10:15AM (#5990704)
On a side note, I think most business problems go unnoticed.

Interesting. Got any examples? :)

Re:Ask HN: what problems do you have in your company? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @10:12AM (#5990697)
I see where you're coming from. Maybe you are not typical of business as a whole since you are (I assume) a tech person and thus very capable of solving your own problems (if they can be solved with tech at all) :)
Re:Ask HN: what problems do you have in your company? on Thursday July 04, 2013 @10:09AM (#5990685)
Here is the book for anyone wondering: http://howtofindsaasideas.com/
Re:Using Trello to Keep Track of Ideas on Thursday July 04, 2013 @06:10AM (#5989962)
I am writing a book on how to find problems and turn them into SaaSes: http://howtofindsaasideas.com/ (yes, I know it's buggy - new landing page coming soon!)

Anyway, would be cool if I could interview you for the book? Can I email you? :)

Will put that info in the new landingpage which should roll out any day now :)
