What a future. Now not only any fridge has wifi, no, my chinese tv will run an local agent swarm that will try to break into any wifi available to download ads. Maybe it's better if we hand sama all our DRAM and accept our fate.

Pardon, i may be naive, but shouldn't a stable democratic parliament be somewhat a representation of the citizens who elected them? Do more than half of all serbians have a Ph.D.? I fear this "revolution" isn't what you think it is..

Your comment is so comically dumb.. Herdr is yet another recently vibe coded ai helper in a niche category. You wouldn't miss anything about frontier ai or coding agents if you don't use herdr and/or terminal multiplexers in your workflow.

I wouldn't be too surprised if tailscale has become a critical vector of the internet like cloudflare over the years as most ai companies seem to use it
Re:Police are using AI to pull over drivers for 'suspicious' behavior
on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @02:01PM (#50263227)
alright, so finally a "thought crime" becomes reality. i feel the world leaders need to stop turning their eyes blind to ai but unfortunately they are too detached from tech to get what change is happening around the world.
I'm blessed to see that even google let their most important marketing prosa be generated by ai models without any proofreading from fleshy humans.
So if those genie 4 characters have all individual chain of thought reasoning and persistent retrospection / recollection, how do these human characters know they are not living in a simulation made by biological humans? Not sure you understand what i'm getting at. Some ethical questions do arise.
Sounds like the plot from the movie matrix. Only difference between the movie and our real timeline - the ai didn't need to enslave humans, we willingly chose enslavement by ai for ourselves by continuing our google subscription.

I know you people here don't like to hear this. Proton makes this process very open. Other companies are doing silent layoffs by calling employees back to office, granting generous buyout packages for leaving the company or offering retraining and removing them from their previous roles (while granting those few they want to keep every wish).

on Monday October 26, 2026 @01:59PM (#50248086)
You were promoted to perm employee a month in. How does that contradict my earlier statement? The broken hiring process in tech is something entirely different - it was broken 10 years ago, 20 years ago, nothing new
Re:Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
on Monday October 26, 2026 @01:41PM (#50247789)
Other ways are to offer "secret" bonuses and perks to the talent you want to keep. If the management / department wants to keep you no matter what, you will clearly notice this despite mass layoffs.
Re:Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
on Monday October 26, 2026 @01:36PM (#50247699)
Not true, the market is exceptional for the best in tech. The problem arises when some employees think they are the best - despite the facts not lining up.

> The truth of the matter I think is that you do not actually need the best.
Not all employees need to be the "best". But if you are a top tier company in a given field like Microsoft, you need the best minds to stay top tier, otherwise you will descend. But on the other hand you don't need the lower tier performers to stay top tier except for scaling reasons because the supply for top tier performers is a very small pool...
