This js dev trend is toxic. You must choose a framework that requires npm and compilation. Why can't we stay with the PHP way? Upload the code, refresh the page, and everything is updated.
Yes, I try to port 200 lines of js to Rust, the features remain the same. Using Claude 4.0 Sonnet with a prompt and it's done. Work perfect.

I still spend a few days studying Rust to grasp the basic things.

Re:The One-Person Framework in Practice on Tuesday April 29, 2025 @06:03AM (#43830588)
I use Django with Vue CDN for the MVP. The framework is similar to RoR. The key is not about the framework IMO, but whether you pick up a good track. If the demand is great, you can feel the pull from the market. Otherwise, whatever framework can't save you from failure.
Re:Ask HN: How to be independent as a developer? on Thursday August 04, 2022 @12:27PM (#32345009)
I think you miss the time to think about the direction. But it is the most important task compare with others. Your time allocation only focuses on execution. If one is heading to a wrong direction, it just accelerates the failure.
Honestly, I have no idea why HNers are so hostile about such a cheap product. If you like it, just buy it whether you want to treat it as a tool, a toy or whatever. If you don't like, just leave it alone.

That's why I don't disclose any project data on IH anymore. Except for creating more competitors, I don't see any reason to do so. Lol
One of the issues of old phones is that the battery can't be replaced and the battery cannot run for a long time

I am using rss to track reddit search already. What's better here?
Re:Find a good available .com domain on Wednesday June 08, 2022 @04:55AM (#31664841)
I created a startup name generator a long time ago. It is using the NameCheap API to look for domain availability: https://3sname.com/

Just get some gigs to make quick money. When you have some money on your hands, you can have long term thinking.
When working too hard doesn't work, I guess you better work less and focus on what is the most important

Not a native speaker. It looks interesting for me. But I am not sure if the voiceover quality is good
That's why I stick with cdn. No build process. Slower in run time but easier to get started
DO may try to better serve the existing users, not trying to encourage shift
Re:The saddest “just ship it” story (2020) on Thursday May 12, 2022 @12:45PM (#31356568)
Always focus on your advantages. When they launch earlier, of course they can enjoy early users.

As a late comer in the market, you can observe what they miss and compensate their weaknesses. You save yourself time because you can study from them

It doesn't matter at all. When you see the landing page of the product and some existing customers, it means that the market is valdiated.

You can still release your product and catch up. With a competitor working in the market, it's just like a north star. You can execute as fast as possible to get some customers.

I think the op is intrigued by his ego. The existing product is a good inspiration to valdiate his assumption

Ask HN: What do you do when your SaaS app is growing slower?

My SaaS app is a plugin for online stores. And I'm the solo founder working on it right now. After Easter, the installation growth rate is slower. I think the slow growth is probably due to this seasonal factor.I just wonder what other SaaS founders do when the growth rate is slower? Marketing? Talking to customers (Try to reduce churn)? Optimizing the system performance (To cope with high season)?

Do you have any suggestions for alternatives?
2. Customise your support page colors. Where is the support page I can see? Is the website demoing what it does? I don't understand how it works.

How many people are there in your team to manage 3 projects? Are you solo? Can you share how you allocate for the projects?
Did you try to upgrade the server os? If you put everything in 1 server, isn't it painful to migrate all services at once?
You can choose apps and spawn a VPS on DO already.
Re:My Path to Financial Independence as a Software Engineer on Sunday December 26, 2021 @10:00AM (#29692850)
The thing I learn is that when you live in US especially in SF, speak US English, you can make the highest earning in the world as a software developer. This is because the tech industry lives in this city.

Even you are a mediocre developer, you can make above average salary because you are so lucky to born in US.

Re:Ask HN: How do you validate demand for your side-project? on Sunday December 26, 2021 @09:53AM (#29692778)
I mainly do 2 things to validate my project: 1. find relevant threads on reddit or other communities. If people are asking the same question again and again, it's a good signal.

2. find if any products exist to solve the problem. If there are a few of them, try to guesstimate the market size. Mostly likely, there is a market for that if the number is ok. If there are many existing players, there is no need to validate because obviously there are many competitors in the field.

Re:Polypane: A browser for responsive and accessible development on Thursday November 25, 2021 @11:31AM (#29342648)
I am using this one. There are a few apps monetizing this idea with a paid option. But I don't see what is extra except there is a price tag
Re:I analyzed SaaS billing dark patterns on Friday November 19, 2021 @12:40AM (#29274190)
The payment gateway HyperWallet doesn't even let me send email to them without an account. I want to ask the transaction fee before joining but you need an account. I don't understand what service level it is.

It's under Paypal so I don't feel surprised at all. Just another enterprisey payment company
