Absolutely not. Rust lovers are still incessant as they’ve ever been. More Rust haters is a good thing.

I agree, and actually I should have clarified that the government and our elected officials are responsible for that and they’re failing.

I think this is just an extension of the idea that "only 20% of communication is verbal and the rest is nonverbal". We have always understood the limitations of language, most of what is communicated between humans is nonverbal.

I really appreciate the tone of this article, and honestly I was an "AI hater" as well. I honestly just don't think it makes sense any more. Almost everything in this article is making a valid point, AI is being pushed by the powers that be that have absolutely no regard for the masses and how this is going to affect society. But I fail to see how that is different than any other time or any other technology in history. People that are declaring that "AI is harmful to society" are ignoring the fundamental brokenness of society that is the underlying reason why AI development is moving forward with reckless abandon. AI is a problem because our society doesn't have a solid moral compass.
“The history of the tech industry and culture is full of this tension between the internet as an engineering plaything and as a surveillance commodity.”

Great article, wish it talked about how we might address the issue.

Very cool idea. As far as applications, I love the idea of this being a lower cost / higher resolution version of satellite imaging, think Ororatec, Planet, Spire etc.
Re:D as a Better C on Tuesday August 15, 2023 @12:26PM (#37135909)
D seems interesting but I'm kind of put off by the fact that there doesn't seem to be a lot of folks using it, at least in the circles I run in. Anyone have an answer to the question why aren't more people using D?
I love you

+1 for rotating within large companies. finding the right team at a large company can make all the difference, at least it did for me.
