This! This is why I asked this question. Most of the people have this assumption. It's important to feel the presence of female developers and techies on HN.

I agree! Although I have my real first name in my user name, no one will know if I am a women as this is an Indian name and most of the world doesn't know if it's a male or a female name.

I know because of the user names. They are either male or gender neutral.

I almost never come across women on HN in the comments section or anywhere else.I am interested in knowing about women in tech and their journey, stories and challenges.Feel free to share anything you like.I'll start first. I am a 27 year old female from India. I work as an ERP developer. I have spent almost 5 years in the industry and have been active on HN for more than an year now.

I recently started working for a manufacturing company with a very small team of developers.The team does not user version control and it's appalling to me. They either maintain the versions in their local machine or on a server.I have been talking to my manager and trying to convince him to start using one.What are some really strong reasons can I give him so that he realizes that we can't do...

I've been using hledger for almost 9 months now and I must say that it's been incredible. Never before have I been able to track and manage my personal finance this efficiently.

Here are the things I want to learn in 2017:

1) I want to learn Java and be an expert in it by the end of 2017. Also, some of the basic concepts of computer science. 2) I am going to start a new food website where I am going to create and share new recipes. I really want to learn so many new recipes and improve my cooking skills. 3)I am going to buy a Ukulele next week and I want to learn it so badly. This is going to my first musical instrument and I am so excited.
