the pedantic mind of tech dorks knows no bounds. Seen one person ask for a heroin text editor - slippery slope much?

here it is a growing, thriving open source platform for kids to learn pretty cutting edge stuff, and of course some resident dorks on hackernews write essays on why the name has a NeGaTIve ConNotaTion

I guess as an engineer, building the product itself seems to be the easy part. How do you market it, find potential customers, or indeed KNOW at all that your product is a winning one?

Obviously uncertainty is a part of every entrepreneur, but I would love to get opinions from fellow engineers

yup, you've taken words right out of my mouth. I am just curious what was the output of the 85% of engineers that were fired. Mind you, among them were ver senior/director level, so it wasn't just college graduates and middle managers
I hear you, but Twitter has been adding new features, no? They introduced community notes, video streaming capabilities etc...

Ask HN: Is Elon Musk right about firing 85% of Twitter engineers?

A lot has happened since Elon Musk took over and fired around 85% of Twitter's engineering workforces. There has been many controversial news surrounding the whole ordeal. My question though is STRICTLY about the running and engineering practices of Twitter/X. Maybe the top dogs who are working on groundbreaking stuff, but as a normal backend/DevOps dude, I am fucking terrified.

ask HN: How is psychology not bullshit?

I come from an applied mathematics background but by no means a researcher/academic.Still every time I look at a clickbaity psychology article title, it baffles me how they arrive at their conclusions. Also I'm very skeptical of their understanding of statistics or worse yet, I've heard that there's a lot of "p-hacking" to get the results they want.It seems like such a bogus fields but they...

Hey as an aside, is there any money/interest in technical writing/blogging in highly technical fields such as DevOps?

I am a noob through and through in the field, work as a devOps engineer in my day job, but I'm wondering if there would be any ways of generating a side income as a technical writer
