Saw a 768GB RAM mac coming soon, would wait for that.
I can understand — is price too much? how much are you willing to pay for this? how about paying for indexing only ie, non recurring payment? eg: $5 for 1000 pages etc.
I think browsers can't go that far I guess. I don't think say google chrome would offer sync service for saves from X, Instagram, YouTube etc. with deep media indexing etc.
I am almost done developing TBH.

Truly, big corps have no incentive to invest in open source local AI. I maintain a small effort towards this goal here at https://pocketweb.tools/
no its just running on browser. with one time download of corresponding model.

Show HN: Linkshot – Auto-generate OG images from your live site via API

https://uselinkshot.com

Hey HN! Posts with OG images get 2x more engagement and 114% more impressions than those without [1]. Yet most devs either skip them or fight Satori/vercel-og — broken fonts, image errors, JSX that pretends to be CSS but isn't. I got tired of it and built something different.Linkshot screenshots your actual live site and serves it as the OG image. Real CSS, real fonts, real layout. One API...

Ask HN: Would you use a service that generates OG images via one meta tag?

Most sites don’t bother with Open Graph images for every page (blog posts, product pages, docs, etc.), which leads to boring or broken previews on Twitter/LinkedIn/Slack.I’ve been experimenting with a hosted service where you add just one meta tag like:<meta property="og:image" content="https://uselinkshot.com/acc_123/tmp_456?url=https://yoursite.com/page" />When someone shares your page,...

Show HN: Bookmarklet to Summarize Any Page Using ChatGPT

I made a tiny bookmarklet that opens ChatGPT in a new tab and auto-fills the prompt to summarize the current page you're on.Just drag this to your bookmarks bar:javascript:(function(){ const url = encodeURIComponent(window.location.href); window.open(`https://chatgpt.com/?q=summarize this page ${url}`, '_blank'); })();Use it while browsing articles or docs — click once and ChatGPT gives...

it makes sense, because interview questions often lack novelty, it's usually very repeated, and almost all AI is very good at these, i think asking to switch of AI and doing a live coding or thinking outloud is the way forward. or else just give them a sample story point and see how well they respond, if they can do it well means they can work well in the company.

Re:Show HN: I made a currency convertor I always wanted on Wednesday January 29, 2025 @05:05AM (#42863325)
thanks so much for the feedback! i will fix the rates part. but i didn't get the copy paste part, what were you really trying to copy paste?

Show HN: I made a currency convertor I always wanted

https://pocketweb.tools/currency-converter

I built this currency converter because most others make it cumbersome to switch currencies or only support one-to-one conversions. It’s built with Next.js, OriginUI, and TailwindCSS for a fast, minimalist experience. Any feedback on performance, design, or new features is welcome—thanks for checking it out!
