It would be nice if you showed which finger to use for each character for proper home-row-typing.

What's that process like? How do you use it when writing drafts?

Re:StateOfTheArt.ai on Thursday December 06, 2018 @01:48PM (#18620851)
Really awesome, definitely bookmarking. Couple points:

- Shouldn't you link to the arxiv page instead of the PDFs in case there's a revision?

- What about a column for "area" as well? Would be nice to scroll through and see what areas have made progress relative to others lately.

- Some sort of very brief mini-about/summary at the top of the main page wouldn't hurt. A tagline of some sort.

- Now I notice there's an About under the hamburger menu -- why not just display HOME and ABOUT instead of hiding them in a menu? You don't have enough menu options to need to hide them in a hamburger menu.

If you read the patent, this is simply a faster dissolving suboxone, which is already an extremely common form of substitution therapy. This isn't anything radically new. I would say it doesn't deem itself worthy of patent, but I know nothing of patent laws.
Re:Adversarial Reprogramming of Neural Networks on Tuesday July 03, 2018 @12:27PM (#17451501)
It could be the beachhead of a larger attack. You could use the model's authority to steal its data or gain access to other resources.
people would buy this.
Re:Show HN: Use Slack for Everything on Monday January 04, 2016 @04:52PM (#10838982)
why limit this to slack? make it a general purpose text command workflow. terminals, email, anything.
this is why many people prefer driving a manual.

Better yet, set a variable to Date.now since it's called twice.
The most recent chats should have a higher z-index.
have you looked into CoffeeScript? it's slightly more pythonic than JavaScript.
Re:Show HN: My Personal Hacker News Reader on Monday December 22, 2014 @04:24AM (#8782533)
this is good. I like the UX. one suggestion is to make the logo much smaller on article pages. it is nice, but unnecessarily large (as is the top margin on article pages).
Re:Notes on the Celebrity Data Theft on Tuesday September 02, 2014 @10:38PM (#8261278)
A good password doesn't need all that stuff. Just use something of sufficient length. A sentence, for example.
Re:My year with a distraction-free iPhone on Monday September 01, 2014 @02:30AM (#8251739)
Is it really that much of a pain? It only takes a few minutes.
Re:Codefund – Crowdfunding for Aspiring Coders on Thursday August 28, 2014 @10:11AM (#8237261)
True, it's a debt-based solution, but the most innocuous of debt-based solutions. But, I like your sentiment/mission statement.
Re:Codefund – Crowdfunding for Aspiring Coders on Wednesday August 27, 2014 @04:25PM (#8234545)
Funny, I had this idea as well. What about abstracting the app academy model and vying for investors instead of donators? That is, people could donate money in exchange for x% of the applicant's first year of income after coding school.
Re:Microsoft Looks to Cut Up to 18,000 Jobs on Thursday July 17, 2014 @09:40AM (#8047418)
Is this going to bloat the Software Engineer market? Do we know what percentage are developers?
Re:Please.js – Random Pleasing Colors on Sunday July 13, 2014 @04:42PM (#8028501)
Very similar to randomColor.js: http://llllll.li/randomColor/

Definitely need a contrast mode. I've been thinking about forking randomColor.js for the last week to implement that feature actually..

Re:Show HN: Never lose a website again on Wednesday July 02, 2014 @04:33PM (#7979558)
I love this idea. Chrome's history is insufficient; I swear, it often doesn't record sites I've visited. But.. I'm not ready to trust an unknown process sending my entire browsing history to unknown servers. Excited for a potential local version.
I didn't find the actual comparison work difficult at all. I always had plenty of money and explored the endings freely. Then again, I used to work in the Census Bureau and spent a lot of time increasing my efficiency at very similar tasks.

Re:50 days of "The Scientific 7-Minute Workout" on Monday September 23, 2013 @12:24PM (#6432040)
No offense, but I question whether you were working out properly previously.
It didn't work like that. It was a plain blank text field among a couple other blank text fields. No search was brought up upon data entry. Very innocuous; Perhaps that why you don't remember it.
Re:How I Became a Programmer in ~12 Weeks on Thursday November 24, 2011 @07:50PM (#3275831)
What did you actually program though? That's all I want to know. What did you build and how did you decide what to build? How small did you start? What was the biggest project you undertook before you got hired?
That is the point.
Re:Once again, praise kids for effort, not for 'smarts' on Saturday February 19, 2011 @06:48AM (#2238899)
I was praised for being smart, and my experience, at least, is more similar to the article's.
Re:The Age of Music Piracy Is Officially Over on Thursday December 02, 2010 @08:02AM (#1961992)
hm, in my extensive experience, v0 is the most popular bit-rate by a large margin. usually releases are offered in a number of bit-rates.

Maybe no one has contacted us because we haven't been broadcasting our existence for long enough.
