Re:Everything Is a Ralph Loop on Friday October 02, 2026 @08:08PM (#49940146)
So technically speaking, even coding harnesses like Claude and the like are just one simple instruction:

1. Do this instruction (instruction #1, while a halting state is not fulfilled (for example, 50 iterations have not been fulfilled)).

----

Imagine that, even the coding harness is commodified lol. It's truly just one instruction. Woah. So there is no real objectively good coding harness, all placebo.

Keep doing it until ...

Which describes a lot of my career. I was this machine once, and many times, many people told me to keep working on it, usually because .... what else can they tell me? I'm the machine, they are the prompter. They just prompt prompt prompt, like a slave master.

So if an entire universe of software got built by masters that said keep working on it, then in effect, they figured out the ultimate algorithm:

The loop:

1. Procure something that will work for you

2. Tell it how it should work for you

3. Tell it to go back to step 2.

Which is master and slave. So that is the final algorithm.

The models are fine tuned to disallow continuous coding regardless of harness.
Re:Ask HN: Programming Codex/Claude to code for a duration on Thursday October 01, 2026 @09:47PM (#49929065)
Basically, I want an employee that just codes for 8 hours straight but these coding harnesses keep trying to stop this for some reason.

Can this be used for account recovery?
Oh yeah? I’d be super interested in creating Discord for them if that’s the case. My observation has been that HN is exceedingly hostile to anything God related.
Nice profile :)

I was curious about who were some serious Christian programmers throughout history and thought I’d share this finding. Didn’t expect to meet a fellow believer! We’re probably a small group here on HN.

I’m just the messenger.
This is probably a lot more related to the fact they want to make GPUs an asset class. Nvidia is banking on the fact there will be an entire market that will guarantee whatever anyone needs.
Re:DeepSeek announced to raise its API price tremendously on Friday August 07, 2026 @08:30AM (#49209398)
Pricing power is kind of interesting in this situation. The human programmer is utterly dependent atm and will be come more so over time because the programming muscles are headed to near zero level of conditioning. We simply cannot not pay the asking price. The only other phenomenon that can break this phenomenon is the commodification of LLMs and GPU compute. It's really just an unprecedented time.
You can take already painted warhammer figurines, pose them, take a photo, prompt an AI to make that your first scene, and generate a hollywood level scene in about a minute or two.

Yes, sure, you can buy the figurine and get the joy of painting it. But there's new things you can do now too, things you couldn't dream about before.

But I'll grant you this, the AI coding extinction event is so severe that I do believe we need to support anyone trying to preserve any memory of it. Like, we need to build entire museums, one for each programming language.

Re:Muse Code and Muse Spark 1.2 on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @11:33PM (#49192116)
Is there a standard benchmark test for all harnesses? How does Muse Code rank compared to Claude Code? Also, do we think the benchmarks to test the harnesses are any good?
Re:Nashville uses eminent domain to block data center near zoo on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @11:26PM (#49192068)
My sincere theory is that this is finally the government/politics stepping in to take their cut from the AI revolution. The politicians now have a fee-based strategy where they can literally just stick a fee on any upcoming project(s). Pay up if you ever want your permits to go through and construction to get started.
Re:Zed DeltaDB on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @11:22PM (#49192035)
There is a universe where prompting with large context will be near instantaneous and pretty much free. In that universe, there would be no reason not to have even more robust and verbose logging like this. For thousands of commits, a chunking mechanism and a running summary of the chunks would roughly get you there.

I still dream about that dockable Ubuntu phone.

Someone is staring at this page on a 2026 OLED. Like, "my god, look at the blacks on this Geocities website". You'd never thought you'd get here, but here you are.
I think this is a great space because almost any AI educational product can be measured and evaluated by the end user. For example, does the user improve from using your product and do they also believe they do, and do they also LIKE your product? If not, then they have every right to seek out the perfect AI educational product, of which, I expect a variety of.

Personally, I believe the last 40 years or so of academia has failed at creating the proper reactive curriculum for students, so I'm nearly positive anyone that enters the AI education space has a very good chance of proving to their end users that they can out-teach ... I don't know, the entire NY Board of Education, for example.

It is not bold at at all to say K-12 will be eradicated. Higher Ed not so much because many were always buying the status of higher education anyway, so the status in itself still has value as a product.
