Just in case anybody else can not see the post. I have no idea if the post is hidden, deleted, or if the server is overloaded.

A Amazon marketplace product I ordered was wrong. I ordered a memory module and got the wrong one. After checkingy order I saw that I ordered the right one. No problem, I thought. Filled a return form, entered "wrong product" as reason, send it back.

The marketplace reseller denied my refund because he claims I swapped the product. I escalated the issue to the Amazon support. They told my that this decision is final and I can nothing do about it. I let my lawyer send them a letter. Only then Amazon gave me my money back.

This if the story how Amazon lost me as a long time customer because of poor and stubborn support over a 23€ product.

It seams so. I life in Europe and never had this problem in a McDonald's restaurant.
Re:Polar v1.0: Let’s Fix Open Source Funding on Saturday July 15, 2023 @12:19AM (#36733415)
I did come here to post the same reaction. I saw the OAuth prompt with "act on your behalf" and intermediately closed the browser tab. When I want to take a look at something new I do not want ti give it what looks like nearly full access on my account.
Re:Only one pair of integers satisfy the equation m^n = n^m on Thursday April 20, 2023 @01:21AM (#35636699)
They try this from time to time. I normally open the page in a private window if that happens. https://12ft.io/ also helps.
Re:Use the XDG Base Directory Specification on Friday March 24, 2023 @05:36AM (#35286904)
You can also use the environment file linked in that blog post to tell Rust to follow the XDG standard. Not perfect because it is not the default behaviour but it is doable.
Re:From Go on EC2 to Fly.io: +fun, −$9/mo on Monday February 27, 2023 @08:15AM (#34956025)
Do you mean VPS's (virtual private servers)? Because there you need to take care of the maintainance of the OS, system upgrades, initial setup, etc. With a system like Fly.io you just push your app and the OS is abstracted away from you. That is exactly what the article is about.
Re:From Go on EC2 to Fly.io: +fun, −$9/mo on Monday February 27, 2023 @08:13AM (#34956008)
Yes. You get a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for free. That is what you need in the EU for GDPR purposes.

Customers with HIPAA compliance needs may need an Business Associate Agreement (BAA). That BBA thing is only included in paid plans.

Because by law it is forbidden to say if they are forced to give access by law. The removal of the canary together with that message without addressing that directly can be seen as strong hint that the where forced to give access.
Right. Other use case. PiHole is setup for network normally. This solution is personal desktop firewall. So it has more access to information, but is also easier breakable (like break thru) for "bad" software on your PC.
I've had cataracts since birth. It's a relatively dense area in the middle of my field of view. My brain interpolates information there as well as possible. Because of this I never see a stain. It's funny to spot the bugs in this process though. For example, objects may become visible because of eye movement that were previously invisible because they were completely obscured by cataracts.
Re:Twitter Terms of Service Diff on Friday May 13, 2022 @02:15AM (#31363971)
Mine does this also. It's Erste Group https://www.erstegroup.com/. I also like they online banking. And if you register for a free developer account you get even API access for you bank accounts.
Re:Twitter Terms of Service Diff on Thursday May 12, 2022 @02:08PM (#31357878)
I do not understand why the most services doesn't do diffs by them self.

My bank for example has an "show diff" button if they change anything. This saves me time and build up trust because I know they try not to hide anything.

Re:Give me /events, not webhooks on Wednesday July 14, 2021 @12:50AM (#27829822)
The Telegram bot API supports webhooks and long running /event calls. Because Telegram bots often have no web UI events has also the plus point of allowing to block every incoming connection with a firewall. Also so DNS name or static IP needed!

This is a huge helper for me personally.

Re:Ant parasites that prolong the life of their host on Friday May 21, 2021 @03:11AM (#27231310)
Exactly what I thought when I read the title!
There is a SVG output option in the tool
I worked with some people of that particular JPL software team to setup a similar setup like the Mars helicopter for a earth UAV.

Can confirm that multiple real time systems are used. They are controlled by a non real time Linux system.

We in Austria have such courses. It was in the core plan of the public school I was on. I think two years long. One or two hours a week. It was as called "economic and economic law".
I tried to generate a 10km round trip route. It generated exactly the same route that I run normally :D
