Think of it as a runtime + scheduler that you deploy programs to ESP32 devices. It gives you the ability to run multiple programs simultaneously (with isolation) and remote updates. The language compiles to bytecode; the developers have lots of experience writing VMs for constrained devices; see https://www.theregister.com/software/2004/07/27/forgotten-la... for something that predates V8 and Dart.
I had to upgrade from an M1 Pro with 16 GB to an M4 Pro with 24 GB last year because one of my work projects at the time needed multiple docker instances, and 16 GB wasn't enough. This year 24 GB isn't enough for a few AI models, but there's no budget for an upgrade...

My home "servers" don't do much but 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM is enough them, for now (Linux).

ublock origin lite is on the app stores (both mac and i-devices), and works reasonably well.

There's a button next to "gyro" labeled "hands." Click on it, and the browser will ask for the camera permission. For me (Chrome, mac), I had to click on the "cal" button next to it the first time to actually switch to the camera.
There was a building hit near the data center on the first day of the war and that took down one AZ (unfortunately, two of my three EC2 instances were in that AZ). The hit on April 1 pretty much took it all down. Fortunately I had relatively up-to-date backups (both within 24 hours before each outage) so all I lost was a little email (spam) and some libera chat logs. I've moved to ap-southeast-1, which means trading a ~ 60ms ping to ~ 110ms.

A decade ago it wasn't terrorist groups funding them.

A Hugo theme that transforms your blog into an Emacs-like experience with buffer management, keyboard navigation, and authentic styling.

Yes. I follow several remote users who default to "unlisted" posts. (To be honest, I don't know if they're unlisted or follower-only posts -- I can't tell.)

Extending the grid to power a remote village is not the same thing as the villagers running their own microgrid.
Three movies with overlapping themes came out in mid-1999: The Matrix, The Thirteenth Floor, and eXistenZ (probably in that order of box office revenue).
I don't know if it uses the vector instructions.

I bought the 32 GB emmc module for it, for the root filesystem. I have a 500 GB nvme drive for everything else. I believe an nvme-to-sata riser will work, but I don't have one to test with (plus you'd need to power the sata drive with something else).
Spacemit's website is a pain to use, but the processor appears to work almost exactly like the K1, so:

- go to https://developer.spacemit.com/

- click on documentation

- click on Keystone

- click on K1

Re:Why Elixir? A Rebuttal to Common Misconceptions on Thursday July 24, 2025 @09:05AM (#44670191)
I think their point is that Elixir lets you write

    defmodule Multiply do
      def m9(m1), do: m1 * 9
    end

    # elsewhere...
    defmodule Caller do
      def doit() do
        Multiply.m9(2)
        Multiply.m9("hi")
      end
    end
It won't raise an exception or give you a warning while compiling it (tested with 1.18.4). Even adding

    @spec m9(integer()) :: integer()
above its definition doesn't do anything.
Re:Smalltalk-78 Xerox NoteTaker in-browser emulator on Thursday May 15, 2025 @04:30AM (#43993005)
You can run Smalltalk78 locally by cloning (or downloading) https://github.com/codefrau/Smalltalk78

Any web server that serves static files will do (like "python3 -m http.server").

To use the full Lively interface, start here: https://www.lively-kernel.org/development/
