I think of my shell history as very machine specific. Can you give some insights on how you benefit from history sync? If you use it.

Great advice, but don't treat it as a checklist. If you like to go to the gym, do it. If not don't do it, leave alone every day.

Your focus should not be in improving yourself and being the best you can be. It's about getting to know yourself better.

What is it that you enjoy. And if you don't know, now's the time to find out. Maybe it's going to the gym, maybe it's finding a great breakfast place. Sitting there, having breakfast, being around other people.

Finding activities that you enjoy doing outdoors, bonus points.

You've already done the first step in asking for advice. Even though it might sound neglectible, that's a great achievement. So many people suffer from depression and have a hard time to take this first step. Congratulations!

Get out there try things, learn who you are. Maybe there's this thing that you always wanted to do places you always wanted to see. Now is the best time to do it. And if there's no such thing, you've been given a great list of things to try.

Best luck to you in this new phase of life!

Just because OP takes medication after a break up, doesn't mean it's a "normal" life situation for them. They could have suffered from depression before, it's not even clear if they started only after medication. The break up could also bring up some childhood trauma, like the loss of a loved one. What seems to be a normal life situation to someone might not be a normal life situation for someone else. I agree though that if no depression is diagnosed it's a bad idea to take antidepressants.
You gotta love the "humor" of Gemini. On Fast it told me:

> Drive. Unless you plan on pushing the car there

Imo they explain pretty well what they are trying to achieve with SIMA and Genie in the Google Deepmind Podcast[1]. They see it as the way to get to AGI by letting AI agents learn for themselves in simulated worlds. Kind of like how they let AlphaGo train for Go in an enormous amount of simulated games.

You can still pipe bat output as it falls back to unformated output when it detects a non-interactive terminal. https://github.com/sharkdp/bat?tab=readme-ov-file#file-conca...

Love the simplicity of your to to-do list syntax highlighter in comparison to todo.txt. That's more how my brain works, as simple as possible. Especially your take on the due date vs. date when you plan to do it. Will definitely try it out.

What they mean is that on a standard german keyboard layout to type []{}~ one would press

  [ Alt Gr-8
  ] Alt Gr-9
  { Alt Gr 7
  } Alt Gr 0
  ~ Alt Gr +
While on an Apple keyboard you use

  [ ⌥-5
  ] ⌥-6
  { ⌥-8
  } ⌥-9
  ~ ⌥-n

Congrats on the launch. I'll take a closer look soon and only played around a bit.

Would be great if you could extend the documentation.

If you're not open sourcing the app, what about at least open sourcing the documentation?

One thing I'd like to extend is on https://www.grafychat.com/d/docs/intro

3. Configure Ollama server to make sure it allows connection from grafychat.

That's not very helpful. Something along the line Set the environment variable OLLAMA_ORIGINS to "https://www.grafychat.com" and rerun "ollama serve". Use your custom host if your using the self-host option.

  ```sh
  OLAMA_ORIGINS="https://www.grafychat.com" ollama serve
  ```
Is not that much more text but makes it way easier for people to go and try out your app with ollama.

What I usually do for Open Source, instead of browsing the website, check on GitHub. https://github.com/penpot/penpot

The license on GitHub is featured prominently as MPL-2.0

"This study explores a violation of Newton's third law in motile active agents, by considering non-reciprocal mechanical interactions known as odd elasticity. By extending the description of odd elasticity to a nonlinear regime, we present a general framework for the swimming dynamics of active elastic materials in low-Reynolds-number fluids, such as wavelike patterns observed in eukaryotic cilia and flagella."
Re:How Instagram scaled to 14 million users with only 3 engineers on Saturday September 16, 2023 @06:15AM (#37533519)
I was wrong thruflo pasted the correct link

You are probably right. The Instagram Engineering blog [0] points to the Fabric documentation on Read the Docs [1] which is empty.

"Read the docs" links to the GitHub repo [2] but it's 404 and even the GitHub organization zwsyff888 is gone.

Re:Linux Lite: Easy to Use Free Linux Operating System on Sunday July 09, 2023 @01:36PM (#36656682)
It's not about having ads or not. As I explained elsewhere it is the ad to content ratio.

There are so many ads and they sometimes blend with the content that it's hard to find information. That was my experience. YMMV

Re:Linux Lite: Easy to Use Free Linux Operating System on Sunday July 09, 2023 @01:03PM (#36656243)
Yes, using an adblocker would be a way for me to not see ads.

But I'm not using one because I usually don't mind seeing ads as it's the main income for most sites.

In this case the ad to content ratio is just too much for my taste. Too many ads and not enough distinction between ads and content.

BTW I tried to add more constructive criticism in another reply https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36653500 as the parent is flagged dead by now it might not be easily visible

One of the main reasons for us to use a terraform collaboration tool is to easily manage state files.

Would be awesome if they find a way to integrate state management.

Re:Linux Lite: Easy to Use Free Linux Operating System on Sunday July 09, 2023 @07:11AM (#36653500)
If open source makes money thats great. But if your site contains more ads than content I don't spend my time finding out how you differ from other linux distros. Being "Free" is definitely not enough.

But I get it, that was no constructive criticism so I try to do better.

- the ad/content ratio is way to high

- too many unnecessary animations and the choice of colors make me think its bad design. And i transfer this opinion on the main product.

- its not clear at all to me why I should choose this distro over all the other free, easy to use linux distributions

- all of the above points drive me away from spending more time on the site to find out more about the project

This is highly subjective, but it seems like I'm not the only one struggling to find the information I want in a time I'm willing to spend.

(Edited to fix formatting and typos)

Re:Linux Lite: Easy to Use Free Linux Operating System on Sunday July 09, 2023 @05:26AM (#36652991)
With all the ads on the page it looks more like a scam then a Linux distro to me. On mobile half the page size is filled with ads. Ad, some content, donation links, some content, ad, some content...

I just can't take it seriously

My biggest pain point is translating the internal compliance/security requirements into technical measures and monitoring them in real time. Not only infrastructure but also application security. In addition templating solutions and make them easily integratable.
Re:I gave commit rights to someone I didn't know on Tuesday May 30, 2023 @05:33AM (#36122869)
FWIW, whitespace changes can easily be filtered out in Github's PR view.
There is another, way more important, difference. You know your friends for who they are. You know the criminals only for what they do.
Re:Ask HN: Is cross platform app development a thing? on Tuesday May 23, 2023 @03:10PM (#36049249)
What would you say are the differences between the app categories, why does it make a difference? Because some rely more on os specifics? I don't know nearly nothing about app dev so I try to understand.

Ask HN: Is cross platform app development a thing?

Many apps are only available on Android or iOS. I'm wondering if it makes sense to do a side project cross-platform when companies are already saving resources to only develop for one platform. When starting a new side project, would you concentrate on one platform or try to design with cross platform development in your mind. What language would you choose?

As a long time vim user I wonder whats in it for me, so more detail on the 12 available lessons would help. And the promise "to become a 10x developer in no time." is, in my opinion, a bit over the top. I wish mastering a text editor would result in being a "10x dev" :D Only left to say, congrats for launching vimninja.com!
For live demos "its a live" [0] by @stavros is also great.

From the Readme:

It's a Live lets you write commands and keystrokes in a file, which it will then read and open a new terminal for you. Every time you press a key, It's a Live will write one character from the file into the terminal, making it look like you're typing every single command with the practiced ease of a consummate professional.
