I like the idea of going into the woods -- how do I get ALL the data off the phone in a computer-readable manner that's accessible to someone like me -- not a sophisticated computer nerd, but someone who dabbles in python, can do rudimentary stuff with the command line, and would be lost without Windows? I can obviously grab the photos. But can I recover anything else? The filetypes will all make the data sticky to the apps, wouldnt it?
The next day, I went back to the woods and found my phone, still inside the faraday bag. The erase order hadn't gotten to the phone. It still hasn't. That's right: to this day, I've kept the phone in that bag, waiting and praying for some way to reverse the wipe command I gave to Google. One day, Google will enable me to reverse that wipe order, I have faith.

And yet, proposing concrete measures still shouldn't generate press. The question is what is the bill's sponsor doing to generate a majority to pass it.
Alternate theory: there is not a uniquely slippery slope between limiting the compensation for banking professionals at a failed institution and fascism.
For my money, I haven't seen an app that so easily allows normal people use copyrighted music -- you know, the stuff everyone hears and is blared at us until we like it -- to express themselves.
If the data loss is such a terrible security threat, why is everyone using operating systems that enable it in the first place? Because the FBI only warns of threats that leverage the terribly insecure systems we all use to oppose the FBI's political projects.
It's a problem, it's just not a problem the FBI has credibility to warn us all about.
Last line of the article completely contradicts the significance of this headline, which is also misleading on its face, because the company gave to both Democrats and Republicans, albeit with Bankman-Friend giving to Dems and his cofounder giving to the GOP.
Keep up the cope though.
