Show HN: Mboxreader – easily view your Gmail Takeouts

https://mboxreader.com

Hey HN,Did you know you can download all your emails (and attachments) from GMail into a .mbox format using Google Takeout (https://takeout.google.com)?I did this and for the longest time my .mbox backup just sat around. I built a web app that can take an .mbox file and load it into a UI that looks like GMail: threaded conversations, original labels and categories, contacts, attachments, and...

I think what you're referring to is the filters. It was a CSS issue and it should be fixed now, but let me know if there are other issues you see.

You should be able to use multiple filters now. I think I originally did that because when testing locally I use a smaller dataset, either way, thanks for pointing that out!

Show HN: Hnwork.app – UI for Who is hiring posts

https://hnwork.app/

Hey HN, I built a UI on top of the "Who is hiring" posts. Take a look at https://hnwork.app!One of the downsides of unstructured text posts is the readability due to it being free-form and having little to no format. While there are other tools that have been built over the years to make perusing Who is hiring posts easier, I took a try on making my own (I actually tried to build this at a YC...

Ask HN: What does a QA analyst do?

Can someone expound on what a QA analyst does day-to-day in detail (tools used, skills required, etc.)? Does it differ if you are a QA analyst for a gaming company versus an analytics company?

Raganwald,

Have you considered asking yourself this question? You "take the friction out of writing and selling books." You could start with yourself and helping with Diabetes.

Re:Ask HN: Can I visit your tech business in NY City? on Saturday September 15, 2012 @11:57AM (#4526349)
You should make a list of companies you are interested in and email them to schedule a visit.

Tell them what you want to accomplish during your visit and make sure to research the company beforehand.

Re:What it’s like to work for Stripe on Tuesday August 28, 2012 @08:05PM (#4446466)
Everything in the post seems positive. Is there anything that is not so great about working at Stripe or could be improved? Alex may be too new to answer but it would be great if other Stripe employees could weigh in.

It's probably some measure of both, but from my experience there are some people you can't afford to give autonomy.

This is the first time I'm wishing for an acquisition to shut a product down.

I can appreciate how much cleaner this is than the AWS calculator, although I agree, it lacks the detail.

Hilarious.

Yes, you're supposed to laugh.

It's read off an array.

I can definitely add a refresh timer or button. The additional photos may be more difficult.

Thanks.

Ask HN: Would you rather be a great mobile programmer or a great web programmer?

Late last year, Fred Wilson (a VC at Union Square Ventures) wrote a two-part post entitled "Mobile First Web Second." [1]It made me wonder, would people nowadays rather be really great mobile programmers or really great web programmers? Certainly, mobile apps are growing more and more important but we can't deny the continuing importance of web apps either.[1]...
