Re:Slack has raised our charges by $195k per year on Thursday September 18, 2025 @08:12PM (#45296540)
Let's be real, when an entity like Slack says "delete all your data," they actually mean they will add a flag in the database to make it inaccessible to those who aren't purchasing bulk data for data mining and llm training. The data will persist regardless.
Hear, hear!
Will you use ChatGPT to implement the feature?

I thought they were already up to 4.5.

Snapchat has been playing this trick for years.

Which companies are doing this? Why aren't they just downloading the Wikipedia databases as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_download ?

It is not a proper subset, though.
Good to know. I've never seen what the ATS portal looks like on the other side. I'm sure all parties involved dislike the UI!

Ask HN: Is there a maximum length for resumes in this new era of ATSs?

Does anyone have any insight in terms of whether an ATS will penalize an applicant for submitting a resume that is more than one to two pages in length? This standard of adhering to a max length for resumes exists for the sake of a human glancing through a stack. Arguably, this standard is in the process of becoming less relevant. It seems that there will be a point where only a small handful of...

The same could be said about humans.

Sounds like airlines need to start using ChatGPT to autopilot their airplanes.
Re:Why DeepSeek's new AI model thinks it's ChatGPT on Monday February 10, 2025 @01:25PM (#43003422)
To be the devil's advocate, what if the modern corpora that DeepSeek is trained on encourages this response? There has been a couple of years where AI responses to prompts have proliferated through the internet at large.
Re:Why Blog If Nobody Reads It? on Sunday February 09, 2025 @02:09PM (#42992809)
I've been treating public Git repository commits in the same vein - a receipt of incremental changes that show that an individual can do some programming. Granted this is not fool-proof - like all things that are complex, it needs to be evaluated with a suite of other factors and conditions to be determined valid. A website written in a personal voice is one of these factors.
Re:Why Blog If Nobody Reads It? on Sunday February 09, 2025 @01:40PM (#42992542)
I keep a personal website and blog and take pleasure knowing that my non-internet friends and family check in on it.
Perhaps the marker indicating where you are is supposed to work it's way up the list? I don't think what you've said here - in this thread - has been unreasonable.

A website can satisfy this qualifier while still being heavily encumbered with JavaScript.

Re:The day I taught AI to read code like a Senior Developer on Sunday January 05, 2025 @11:05AM (#42602672)
A bit of a disappointing read. The author never elaborates on the details of the particular day in which they taught AI to read code like a Senior Developer.

What did they have for lunch? We'll never know.

It's a bit obtuse to recommend weather.gov when https://merrysky.net/ exists.

I believe it's a tally of the amount of up-votes you've received from others.

Probably because browser bookmarks exist.

If it gives you any consolation, I can see this post.
Perhaps they need more data to fine-tune resume readers.
> I mean everyone already has turn-by-turn directions emanating from their pocket

Navigating the map is a problem already solved. Knowing what a delivered package looks like on a doorstep is not, knowing how to interact with any individual waiting for the package is not, etc.

> I'd imagine they'd also want to create their own "actual location" address book.

Good call! Another to add to the list.

We're talking about Amazon here, right? A company known for maximizing efficiency and resources. Why wouldn't they use this sensory device to work towards this goal?

> The goal is to “shave seconds” off delivery times by giving drivers turn-by-turn directions.

I'm sure the primary goal is to help train an autonomous agent to deliver packages in their stead.

I'm curious if this is in preparation for a shift in how anti-cheat will operate in the future.
