Re:Insync is now free on Tuesday December 13, 2011 @11:22AM (#3347952)
It just works. While still in private beta, it works just fine. And best of all - they just made it free!

For those who don't know - Insynch.com is like dropbox. Only, it syncs with your own Google docs account.

Re:Ask HN: Dropbox? on Friday September 24, 2010 @12:08PM (#1724099)
It is absolutely fabulous. I keep my Linux box, Mac and Win PC in sync. I also use it to keep a single copy of my dot files and share them between my mac and linux box (I use symlinks in home dir to point to Dropbox files). So far, pretty reliable.
Re:Matt Cutts gives you a free startup idea on Sunday September 05, 2010 @11:00PM (#1665715)
Not sure if its a great business plan, but its something that I have been looking around for quite sometime now. Very useful idea!
Re:The Thrill of Flying the SR-71 Blackbird on Friday April 09, 2010 @05:03AM (#1252249)
Reading this article was the most interesting experience I have had in a long time. The passion and feel of the description and the imagery being described really resonated with my geeky soul. RIP SR-71. You are a truly magnificent creation.
Re:How Bing could kill Google on Monday November 09, 2009 @10:37PM (#932387)
This is a smart move. If news starts disappearing from Google, why would people use it at all! And, the fact that Google supports "opt-out", makes this all the more easy!
Re:A Square Is Not A Rectangle on Tuesday September 15, 2009 @07:13AM (#823624)
I really like this comment from Uncle Bob: Inheritance is not ISA. It is a redeclaration of variables and functions in a sub-scope!

http://cafe.elharo.com/programming/a-square-is-not-a-rectang...

Please do a more detailed version, if it makes sense to do so. You actually managed to say a lot in this little space. I had a teacher too who did this on a small scale - the first 5 mins was a summary of the previous calls. The first day of each week he summarized the entire chapter or section in the first 10 mins. This bird's eye view of the material went a long way in keeping the concepts 'live',
Re:"On communicating better" --- 37signals revises security pages. on Thursday September 10, 2009 @06:03AM (#814974)
I really like the effect of crowd-sourcing influence. This appears to be a fall out of the large number of comments to the recent post on HN regarding the slack on part of 37signals: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=803899
Re:Tell HN: Check out HNTrends.com on Tuesday September 08, 2009 @01:19AM (#810323)
Really nifty! Really fascinating!
Re:Ask HN: Am I crazy? on Thursday September 03, 2009 @06:04AM (#802133)
I don't think you are crazy. Wishing you luck with what you want to do. Just make sure you post back your experiences on HN. Also, like someone suggested, blog about it regularly. Will be great to see whats going on with this idea on a daily basis!
Re:Ask HN: Is version control worth learning early on? on Thursday September 03, 2009 @05:56AM (#802127)
Learn some version control and use it. Period. It saved my MTech thesis a couple of times. And that is something. Even if it is for just this one time, blindly take this advice. Will thank HN community later.

Co-routines in C

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/coroutines.html

Read this article on three different occasions to understand its intent. It finally clicked when I read this:"...co-routines save the control state of a function between calls. Kinda like recursion - you know exactly where are you going to return after a function call...When you call a co-routine, it doesn’t start all over from the beginning. Rather, it starts from right after where it returned...

Re:Ask HN: What do you listen to when you code? on Tuesday August 18, 2009 @03:46AM (#769982)
I'd rather prefer silence. But in noisy environments, I prefer any instrumental music. Western classical mostly.
