And this is why it needs a reason/ban rule. You guys simply can’t help yourselves.
Re:Vouch on Sunday February 08, 2026 @10:10PM (#46941156)
I think a system that allows a reason someone is denounced, specifically for political views or support, should be implemented, to block the mob from denouncing someone on all of their projects, simply because they are against certain topics, or in an opposing political party
Re:Vouch on Sunday February 08, 2026 @10:06PM (#46941131)
Unfortunately, the mob mentality, and gate keeping from the Reddit mod era, proves that these types of systems simply don’t work.

Between the redditors and the autistic people, I can’t tell who’s joking any more.

I appreciate that you are using this idea, but keeping padding and other design in tact, unlike most linux/unix devs that like dense ui.

Ask HN: Virtual Layer Code Editor?

Sometimes I want to make notes or space out functions while exploring code. Is there a plugin/best practice for editing a file without actually modifying it, but not losing the changes after the session? Current method is to duplicate a file and mess around with it, but prefer not dirtying the directory.

This issue is going to get worse once we are a multi-planetary species.
I heard it was also because rebuild costs are so high, also labor shortage.

Re:PostgreSQL reconsiders its process-based model on Monday June 19, 2023 @11:20PM (#36399333)
Unpopular idea: age limit on votes/contributions.

We are in a unique time period and generation that has strong opinions based on a history that only exists within itself.

At some point it needs to rewrite.

Idea: provide the model data and satellite imagery to an ai input to generate higher resolution models.

Provide street view data also, on a building by building or street basis.

Re:macOS keeps a huge wallpapers cache on Tuesday September 27, 2022 @09:36PM (#33003323)
The (Apple) News App on macOS also uses a huge cache. I’ve seen it 5-10GB+. Without even using it regularly. I think to remove it I had to deselect it as an iCloud service in settings.

I would love to see a origin/latin etc breakdown of the word behave. One of my least favorite words (authority issues much? Yes).
I stand with archive.org
Could they capture the contents of the process and use the results to their advantage/argument? Or would it work against them? (I’m for archive.org, just curious).
Reduce the zoom/font size and it works better.
