GIMP needs a badass new logo for the new version.
Re:Our brains 'time-stamp' sounds to process the words we hear on Tuesday November 08, 2022 @12:00AM (#33516015)
I wonder if our brains do the same timestamping when we listen to someone sing a song. Our brain database will not have enough examples of those exact words being sung in that musical way. I guess that's why we need a little more focus to understand the lyrics of a song vs someone talking to us.

Brilliant article! Shared it with the rest of my team.
Sounds like a incredibly useful tool. I can see this becoming ubiquitous in companies just like pagerduty, ELK, APM, grafana etc. Kudos

I agree. Gimp will need just as many developers as Adobe employs, and just as much money as Adobe makes, to be more 'like' Photoshop.

Ask HN: Tech interviews gone crazy

I've given a handful of tech interview in the last few weeks. The interviewers either ask hard DP problems or questions with named algorithms as solutions. I get some of them absolutely correct and showed good approached to the others. I've still got all rejections. I am an Indian wrapping up my Masters in CS in the US with 4 years of prior experience. Is there a pattern or fact that I am missing?

Re:Poll: Do you prefer front end or back end work? on Monday September 09, 2013 @01:49AM (#6352049)
I do backend work, I don't do frontend work as much as i would want to. It seems to go far slower that backend development work.
HR's don't recognize talent and tell you they have fixed salary bands which are solely based on years of experience.
