Re:Stripe Payment Links on Tuesday May 25, 2021 @04:18PM (#27282038)
Hey Patrick, this is cool.

Is payment link creation available as an API ? That would change everything

My coworker brooded on this very same ideas every single day. It became such an obsession for him that he started to spend more of his work time on it. He started to build own game of sort. I and many started to distance from him. This was way back.

It wasn't long before his work slacked and manager had to literally walk him outside the building (read firing).

To this day many in that team couldn't come to make sense of his obsession.

I just wanted be a fly on the wall when Fig founders were pitching to these investors on how they are gonna make money.

Can NOT this tool say to my employer - How many times I compile my code in a day ?

When I get a compilation error - how quickly it gets to compiling state again ?

Was the compilation error a trivial mistake ?

How much time is spent between each commands ?

How productive I am keying in command one after another ?

Also can NOT Fig figure out current apps Im running on my machine ?

What is the current app in foreground ?

How long I run each app ?

When I log off ?

How many times I log off ?

It is getting interesting! Can anybody help with more usecases.

I love faker.js.

However, as many have said - Marak's email to David is salesy.

And the blog is perhaps a way of mild marketing of fakercloud.com (reminds of hey.com)

Why would your users choose you instead of cypress dashboard ?

Wow for real.
Re:Voltswagen of America on Tuesday March 30, 2021 @11:07AM (#26635467)
Volkswagen to Voltswagen

By having 'Volts' can they can grow market share ?

Can anybody think of a similar name change that worked before ?

That was brilliant :)
Hey Gitlab,

This is as worse as it can get. This is tabloid stuff. Have lost respect for you.

Name calling Heroku which is known for its UX and ease of use. And then offering nothing but some made up nonsense and buzzwords. What happened to your good standards ?

Why can't you be serious and build a better Heroku instead ? for real

Curious on on how ee license works - will it not stop somebody to take that source and run it for free ? or do parallel implementation on top of your free offerings.
Makes sense.
Intercom pricing[1] shows 5 seats for $119 - am I missing something in their pricing page ?

If not Chatwoot seems expensive at $99/user/month ?

Re:Can a Vegan Diet Be Healthy? A Literature Review on Sunday March 14, 2021 @06:55AM (#26454290)
I was like this when I was a vegan :)
Re:Can a Vegan Diet Be Healthy? A Literature Review on Sunday March 14, 2021 @06:46AM (#26454232)
Thanks for those links. Sorry, I meant to say, I was in borderline to being deficient. Because I understand, once you are B12 deficient, you have to take those b12 injections all life. And I learnt it from a blood test and from physcian.

However, it really depends on what the family gene-stocks looks like for these vitamins and how well one can absorb those vitamins. For example, the iron in meat is mighty absorbable compared to say when you eat anything in vegan.

So I would like to urge Vegans to be highly highly skeptical.

Re:Can a Vegan Diet Be Healthy? A Literature Review on Sunday March 14, 2021 @06:28AM (#26454148)
>> B12.. So take this with a healthy dose of skepticism

Absolutely this.

Meat is so highly nutritionally dense - vegans you have no clue.

I was a vegan for 20 years of my life. I thought it was env friendly, ethical, bla-bla-bla and had my mum as a company at home while growing up in this seriously flawed cult.

And then I figured that I was not only b12 border line deficient but also in other b-vitamins. And the list continued to Iron, zinc etc. As a vegan you can still get most vitamins other than the most important b12. Even if you can get other vitamins from vegan, you will have to eat a lot to get the same nutrients as in a simple steak!

Since turning into meat, my life has gotten 10 times better probably. Although I prefer to prepare it at home only and have it just once/twice a month.

@Dang : Could you please change the title to convey this better.

'Dhcpd will need a new maintainer' - doesn't tell the real story.

Re:Baserow.io – Self-hosted Airtable alternative on Saturday March 13, 2021 @05:03PM (#26450466)
Looks like Airtable took a lot of 'inspiration' from DabbleDB!

I believe open source work is amongst the greatest works of charities ever. It is just staggering the amount of work that goes building/maintainer open source. And I possibly wonder every week on who are these wonderful people creating/maintaining them.

My heart goes to maintainer & family.

Everybody in this forum needs to do a bit.

Request everybody to donate generously via paypal mentioned in the link.

Wish there was a better way to represent these stats.

Wow, I'm looking at Google in new way now.

Visualisation look good.

But have to say landing page is simply the weirdest I have come across in a long time :)

The visualisation in landing page & how it works are chopped off on right side!

It is not clear on how it works with existing data sets. Say I've a csv or a database, can higeorge connect and show some visualisation ? How does this compare to Superset/Metabase etc ?

Re:Show HN: Osso – Open-source SAML SSO service on Wednesday February 03, 2021 @05:08PM (#26019809)
Thank you both (Zeeg and Armin).

How does fork changes work ? do they have to open source it as well.

And is the license same as MariaDB license too ?

That's a neat idea, no distractions from suggested videos.
