interesting take! maybe there's something here as well, but i also do think there's a lot of ai apps out there that offer hairstyle changes

Show HN: We built an agentic image editor that preserves the original structure

Hi everyone,I’ve been experimenting with app where you can edit images in your camera roll simply by tweaking your photo’s metadata (changing location/time) and our agent will contextually regenerate the photo in that place & time in one shot. There's no prompting involved. One of the hardest problems we’ve seen with these ai image editing/creation tools is that they struggle with preserving...

Re:Tyk is offering grants for side projects on Tuesday November 17, 2020 @12:22PM (#25126450)
Tyk ran a fund back in March where they would give micro-grants to people working on side projects. They've decided to do it again and applications are open until December 20th

Here's a direct link to the application if anyone's interested: https://tyk.io/fund/

Re:Show HN: An app that transforms your phone into an iPod on Saturday August 08, 2020 @11:19AM (#24092293)
It's awesome! Highly recommend working with it if you're aiming for efficiency. There's also plenty of packages that help speed up development

Website: https://retromusic.co

Hey guys!

Retro brings back the magic of having full control over your music––inspired by the design of the iPod. Why would we want that? I don’t know, but nostalgia hits us hard at the weirdest of times and sometimes there’s harmony in it.

We’ve been spoiled with Spotify/Apple Music. Being able to have all your songs in one place is a godsend and is something we take for granted every day. I don’t want to take that away and currently you can control/sync Apple Music with Retro.

You can theme the app to really make it yours. Right now I’ve made a few skins that you can select within the app (as seen in the video). You can also change the wheel color.

Retro is 100% free to use and will always be.

This is pretty cool! I think being in quarantine made a lot of (tech) companies are starting to realize that they can support WFH efficiently.

Hopefully other companies will follow.

Re:We're Hosting a Virtual Hackathon on Thursday April 30, 2020 @12:15AM (#23027368)
Hey guys!

We run a website for sharing and receiving feedback on side projects and given how times have changed drastically, we wanted to try something different and host a virtual hackathon in an effort to hopefully continue driving creativity and problem solving. :)

If you’re interested in participating, feel free to sign up!

https://sideprojects.net/hackathon

We don’t have the details as to when we’ll be hosting it, what the prizes are, etc., but we’ll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Join the discord: https://discord.gg/RbF3RuS Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/sideprojectsnet

Lastly, if anyone out there would like to sponsor the event please reach out to us via sponsor @ sideprojects.net

Cool! Sent you an email
And they manage to get away with it?! That's just pathetic
Thank you! I never really understood why some sites fudge their numbers (other than for boosting one's ego)––makes it even more embarrassing when they get caught!
Might actually just do that first and then I could eventually migrate to this. Thanks for the idea!
Yep, mainly just posted here for exposure/validation before I spent more time reaching out to grants & organizations, etc.
Hopefully in the near future! I'd definitely like to have funders outside of the US on the platform––in fact quite a few of the smaller grants I've been in touch with do support international applicants.
Yep you're right––I probably should've specified this. I think larger/gov't-operated grants probably won't use this, but I'm hoping smaller and private funders like you suggested would be the way to go

Thanks for the advice!

Hey all,

So a couple weeks ago, I posted a collection of different grants/funding opportunities with deadlines and all that (https://github.com/sakofchit/fund-my-project).

But as I was going through all these different grants/funding opportunities, I’ve realized that a lot of them ask similar, if not the same questions.

So I wanted to build a platform that simplifies the process of applying to grants and funding opportunities. Rather than having to apply to each grant/opportunity individually, you could apply with just one application. In order for this to work, there would need to be individual funders/grants registered on the site. (There are no funders at the moment, but I’m optimistic)

Searching for grants the fit your niche can be tough, and I genuinely think that this could help with the discoverability of various grants as well.

I wrote more about this here: https://funderbuddy.net/blog

There’s still a lot of work that still needs to be done. Let me know what you think!

Also feel free to follow @funderbuddy on Twitter for updates! (https://twitter.com/funderbuddy) and feel free to join the discord server (https://discord.gg/4j8zqrZ)

Re:Mask Your PFP – Add a mask to your profile pic on Monday April 06, 2020 @07:51PM (#22799079)
Just to lighten the mood a bit and with the CDC advising everyone to wear a mask, I thought making this would be fitting :).

If you do decide to use it, feel free to share yours with #maskyourpfp!

Re:Fund-my-project: Earn grants/funding for your project on Saturday March 21, 2020 @08:27PM (#22651518)
I think most grants have their own form that you have to fill out so it would depend on the grant/funder.
Re:Fund-my-project: Earn grants/funding for your project on Saturday March 21, 2020 @08:22PM (#22651488)
Thanks! Will add soon
Re:Fund-my-project: Earn grants/funding for your project on Saturday March 21, 2020 @08:01PM (#22651363)
Thanks for the idea! Seems like a lot of people are finding it useful :)
Re:Fund-my-project: Earn grants/funding for your project on Saturday March 21, 2020 @06:00PM (#22650573)
I agree! I'd love to put a platform like this together but since I lack connections I would probably have a hard time finding funders that would use it.
Re:Fund-my-project: Earn grants/funding for your project on Saturday March 21, 2020 @05:57PM (#22650551)
Yeah you're right. 'project' is subjective :). This is just a start for now, but I'm open to PR's that includes other types of funding
Re:Fund-my-project: Earn grants/funding for your project on Saturday March 21, 2020 @03:51PM (#22649416)
Someone suggested that there should be a place that documents a list of grants + deadlines in my last post, so I’ve gone ahead and put together a list of grants, crowdfunding platforms, and other resources that can help you get off the ground with no upfront costs!

If you know of other grants or resources, please feel free to create a pull request :)
