GCC has fdelete-null-pointer-checks to choose null pointer dereferencing semantics
"b 0x12345" will place a line breakpoint at line number 0x12345 of the current source file. The "nonsensical" extra asterisk is used to tell gdb that you want an address breakpoint instead.
Re:Rust and the Future of Systems Programming [video] on Thursday November 17, 2016 @01:01AM (#12974773)
Atleast for avr-gcc, (part of) startup code and vector table layout come from avr-libc.

I'm kinda surprised you got by without libc - no strxxx, memxxx ,xxxprintf/no math.h functions ever?

Re:Cloud9 Acquired by Amazon on Friday July 15, 2016 @04:50AM (#12099641)
Yes - I've run it locally. No docker/vm support was there though - I ended up running it the whole thing inside a docker container.
Re:Think Less, Think Better on Sunday June 19, 2016 @11:43AM (#11933328)
This is consistent with what Daniel Kahneman's "Thinking Fast and Slow" says - engaging System2 (thinking) diminishes System1's (intuitiveness) capacity.

Re:Ledger, a command-line accounting system on Thursday November 05, 2015 @01:22AM (#10511926)
OK. Just that, I find it a bit odd that money goes into the "budget" when you spend, not when you allocate it, and vice versa :)

Newbie to ledger here.

Why not move $x from checking to Holiday Budget every month, and then track holiday spending by moving money from Holiday Budget to Spent on Holidays?

Guess it throws off net worth calculations a bit, as you'd have to include the Holiday Budget as well in there. Are there other reasons?

Re:Show HN: NotCRUD – Hacker News of India on Tuesday October 27, 2015 @09:42AM (#10457899)
From http://thenextweb.com/in/2015/09/03/notcrud-is-a-hacker-news...

PC: “CRUD refers to basic database functions — create, read, update and delete — and in my mind, the acronym describes most poorly built products: a database with a UI slapped on top of it, with no real user experience to speak of.

We want to showcase the best of Indian creativity and ingenuity in product development. So we coined the name NotCRUD to describe quality custom-built software and hardware that Indians are capable of building.”

Re:Asynchronous IO in Rust on Thursday September 17, 2015 @12:58AM (#10231660)
Care to explain why async disk IO is horrible?

AFAIK, the kernel APIs only deal with abstract handles and descriptors - they aren't written specifically for disk IO or network IO. And C#'s async/await and BeginXXX also work fine with all kinds of IO.

There's a typo in https://cleartax.in/Guide/GoldService - it says "One complementary Digital Signatures included."
