Best of luck with this. Back (and neck) pain really, truly sucks. Very under-treated in the U.S. as well. IME, completely stifles the ability to enter a “flow” state of cognitive function.

Ahh. I was not aware of his passing, but I do recall his threads & being appreciative of them at the time.

Thanks for informing us.

Edit:

In trying to find an obituary, & after seeing a lot of very strange “groyper” related posts on his colitis fundraiser page, I came across this via google results:

“ Fans of white nationalist Nick Fuentes have been mourning the death of "AT Drummond", who they identify as Alexander Thomas Drummond. He has donated to Fuentes to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars, even bankrolling a fundraising event for Fuentes last year for $50k”

Certainly threw me for a bit of a loop… people, uh – contain multitudes I guess. I will choose to try not to let this impact my memories of his goodwill here.

https://x.com/ATDrummond

This would appear to be his account – and for whatever it’s worth, he perhaps seems to hold some of my views on wondering why we’re sending so much money to Israel so they can genocide who ever they deem as lesser/non-humans.

Final edit:

Ahh, alright – I’ve lost my respect.

https://x.com/ATDrummond/status/1754657354082029669

Lauren was a dear friend of mine who was suffering greatly. Drummond apparently died of leukemia + crohns, so I don’t know why he’d make such a statement. Such is life

>> wait until Palantir makes a unified database of everyone, they won't even need to have a previous offense, they can make one based on all the collected information or even based on your behaviors.

Well, I hear that if you make being gay a crime again, you cut off the head of palantir.

>> But this should be a cautionary warning of what might also happen anyone if you associate with things that are perceived as criminal in nature.

Opioid painkillers are associated with “things that are criminal in nature” because a certain segment of every society does and will suck, nearly no matter what. Does this mean that everybody in pain should just suffer and let their education, career, and family be taken from them before their time?

Re:How Palantir is mapping the nation’s data on Thursday September 11, 2025 @05:12PM (#45216153)
Very cool how we’re letting a private company become the modern day SS. Especially hilarious when the dude in charge literally grew up in an ex-Nazi stronghold in Namibia.

Should be an absolute red mark to have this company or any affiliated with it in your CV. Absolutely anti-societal.

Hacker News user unaware Poor People^tm exist

>> This is confusing to say the least, the US are providing Israel with heavy hardware and ammunition to kill the Palestinian civilians, and then they want to take the children victims for medical care?! Why the US plays on both sides?

The US taxpayer has always paid for Israel’s citizens healthcare, while US citizens go without healthcare and ration their necessary medicine. Makes you wonder how such leverage can exist.

>> Elon cultivated a culture of no tolerance for BS and only having "A" Players on your team.

Funny take because I know multiple talented people who’ve worked SpaceX & Tesla who claim an extreme amount of bloat wrt earnestly negative-value employees in the engineering sectors. This was pre-2020 as well.

The best and only reasonable thing you can do to people that endanger or attempt to arrest the development of your children is to dispose of them. Calling CPS for anything but the absolute worst of cases is like telling somebody you want their kids to experience both prison rape and homelessness at the same time (this is essentially what foster kids where I’m from typically went through) If somebody is doing it just to fuck with you or because they have some grudge against you, I don’t really know any real thing to do other than dispose of them to protect your family.

>> You're telling me you can just go to a Walgreens in the USA and get a bag of estrogen and start injecting it without the advice and monitoring of a doctor? Even though hormone replacement therapy can lead to all kinds of problems? Is this normal?

Go chug a quarter of a McBurgerStan sized bottle of Tylenol available at near every cornerstore in our country and you’ll literally fucking die a harrowing death. I do not even mildly see your point. Quite frankly those against open access to all medicine need to die. The harm a lack of accessibility causes to society at large is incalculable, because the disabled go unseen rotting away in their homes – if they’re so lucky to even have that.

Could you drop a form of contact? I have some questions about your knowledge of MECFS (especially regarding your comment about test cyp. & hgh for CCI)
>> Would you also e.g. applaud Iran trying to extradite you if you watched a pornographic recording of an Iranian woman

Given the fact that I find Iranian women to be extremely hot, and that the country from which I hail has enough nukes to turn that entire desert into glass – No.

It is actually a thinly veiled sociopath/psychopath/narcissist that has fully bought into hyper-capitalism being the endgame of humanity thing.

US Military has atleast privately switched away from any Signal usage within the past few months – it’s undoubtedly compromised in some way. If the FBI is recommending it it’s for exploitative purposes & a false premise of safety.

Maybe the end of an airport runway should be some form of elastic plane-load rated material & not essentially a solid wall.
Re:Long Fatigue: The exhaustion that lingers after an infection on Saturday November 30, 2024 @03:55AM (#42280457)
As the article somewhat gets into, fatigue is a terrible descriptor for the litany of issues that can ravage one post-infection.

Seemingly mild mono (Epstein-Barr) absolutely ruined the brain of one of the most talented dual-major Mechanical/Electrical engineers at my university in his last year. Saw him crying in more than one of our professors offices after he tried to come back because he couldn’t think straight enough to do 8th grade math anymore. Never recovered to my knowledge of a few years after, but it’s been a few years since I’ve heard anything of him. Medical imaging, at that time, purportedly showed nothing wrong with his brain. No help to be had.

dang do you normally edit w/o leaving history of it? feels like this is the first time i’ve noticed.
>> who isn't as politically inflamed as you are

Saying that it’s okay for bonafide anti-intellectuals to meet the fate they’ve crafted for themselves despite all evidence is no sign of political inflammation. Be serious.

For those not actively following the situation, we’re well past the point where they offer and insist that you take the route of euthanasia before prescribing pain medicine in chronic painful conditions.

Does not bode well for a generation of people hunched over their desks leading sedentary lifestyles.

>> They set these off in public spaces and private residences. There are already reports that Israel murdered a 10 year old girl with this attack. Absolutely horrible.

People tend to do whatever they want when they’re raised since birth to believe everybody that is not one of their in-group is a quite literal subhuman not chosen by god

@computerdork do you have a tongue tie/lingual frenulum or narrow airways/diaphragmatic dysfunction? These things can cause extreme issues with the fascia that lead to things presenting in such a manner.

If you’ve made it to teens/adulthood, it’s typically missed by fucking everybody in the medical profession.

Re:Apple Must Stop Selling Watches with Blood Oxygen Feature on Wednesday January 17, 2024 @03:11PM (#39032795)
I hope the suffering patients these kind of tech wearables earnestly improve the lives of don’t get impacted too much. Blood Ox probably isn’t the biggest deal, but accurate vitals wearables are extremely valuable in managing & making doctors unable to deny the reality of quite a few conditions they may otherwise be inclined to say you’re exaggerating.

I was personally waiting for some of Withings (Nokia folk IIRC) offerings to get approved by the FDA for quite some time… last I checked they never did and I mostly use apple now.

Re:FAA grounds 171 Boeing planes after mid-air blowout on Saturday January 06, 2024 @01:52PM (#38894080)
I’d at first read the plane was without passengers and just being flown somewhere… and I thought, great.

Today I read that it was full of passengers, and the two people supposed to be in the two seats in the row the panel blew out happened to miss their flight.

If that’s true… what an interesting set of statistics coming together.

Amount of people that sleep through flights Amount of panels that blow out of passenger planes Chance to be seated next to said panel

“As we mentioned, we estimate that TikTok has about 80 million monthly active users in the United States. 60% are female, 40% are male. 60% are between the ages of 16-24. 26% are between the ages 25-44.”

Turns out when words are used by tens of millions of your younger populace, they’re actually just words for the general vocabulary, not the “TikTok vocabulary”

Don’t have the time to read the full article, but I’m baffled that Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is not mentioned once.

A significant amount of Dystonia’s in musicians end up being thoracic outlet syndrome (typically the neurogenic subtype, but a lot of violinists seem to be getting the vascular subtype as well from positioning). Often both (dystonia & TOS, not the subtypes mentioned).

Source: My Harvard medical professor/chief of vascular surgery surgeon that’s written books on this.
