Ask HN: Google Map vs. Waze
which is better when you want to use navigation app, Waze or Google Map? and why? I always use GMap, never use Waze. Would love to hear some opinions. Thanks.
Since I can not uninstall iOS map, so if you can only pick one, you choose Waze over GMaps? Or GMaps and Waze are more complimentary for each other?
Thanks.

I am currently running a bootstrapped startup, and i need an intern to help me with marketing and sales. since i am bootstrapping and i am very low in fund, i am thinking of hiring an intern and pay with profit sharing based on the intern performance.Another reason is that it can be served as a trial. if it goes well and things pick up, it can be converted to full time, and i can also pay an...
i embrace this change so now i can make call using my Nexus 7. awesome. it's like having another phone.
To me, tablet is like a bigger screen version of a phone, it performs exactly like a phone (without telephony).
I own an iPhone 5 and I prefer iOS vs Android, but I opted to get Nexus 7 (and not iPad Mini) because
1. price of N7 is so cheap (bought one at mid $100s for 32 GB). Android tablet is much cheaper, you can literally buy 2 refurb N7 for the price of 1 refurb iPad Mini with Retina.
2. to read books and magazines (it is not convenient to read books/magazine using laptop and to read on an iPhone, it's too small). Kindle or any other e books can be read with an app that exists on both iOS and Android.

Dwolla does not support other countries local banks, so only US banks.
I heard of dwolla before, but I have not really reading into it until now.
It appears dwolla is connecting payment to user bank account, hence ability to avoid ~3% cc payment.
Does dwolla support international currency (or integration with many countries local bank)? I am looking for this option for international users that do not have credit card and want to use their local non USD bank account to pay in USD.
As I understand, Paypal integrates their system deeply with many local banks around the world, hence high rate of user adoption as it allows them to use their bank fund to pay anyone anywhere using almost any currencies + to avoid credit card foreign transaction fee.
I have already implemented Stripe, which can accept any worldwide credit card. But I understand that credit card may not be common for international users, so they only own bank account only.Is there another payment options besides Paypal that can use bank account to pay for international users? I would not want to limit my users just because they do not have credit card.I understand Paypal...
If you were to launch a startup, how would you define and write your T&C?Do you hire a specialist to do this? Where can I find such person? A marketplace for lawyer like upcounsel.com? What would be an ongoing rate to have a well written T&C?Thanks.
Thanks.
I am thinking it's the lawyer who may have to pay because your company paid the lawyer to draft the ToS and he was not competent if such case happens. But I am not sure, hence the question.
Thanks.
I come from a technical background and have little experience in marketing and internet space. I am currently working on my startup that is ready to launch within few weeks.I am having difficulties to think about how I am going to launch it. I am thinking of doing a closed beta first and then after few weeks of beta, then open it up.my question is how do I build my landing page? Should I use a...
My startup is a peer to peer marketplace. I have been thinking about how to build trust and safety in the marketplace. One of them is to do an offline identity verification such as ID card, passport, driver license, etc. What do you think of ID verification? is it necessary? How do you build trust and safety? Also, I have been researching about firms that do ID verification. I know that Jumio,...
I am curious to know what you guys use for your startup email solution.I am currently considering moving to AWS, and possibly using their Amazon SES. However I see that there are other alternatives like mailgun.com or sendgrid.comwhat would be the advantage of using 3rd party solution vs in house Amazon SES? I see that the pricing is pretty similar and I am leaning towards using SES, but I...
Should I use ready solution like mixpanel.com? Or should I build it myself? How do you build it yourself to ensure accurate data reporting? Thanks.
99designs is also good, but it's more generalist marketplace vs the two I mentioned
While I can write English OK, but I think I would like to leave it to the pro writers to do it. I need it to write the content of my site such as FAQ, About Us, How it works, etc.The only marketplace I found is scripted.com but it's not that user friendly, in my opinion.I could go on in odesk, freelancer, elance but there are more of developers instead of writers.Just curious if there are any...
As I am building my marketplace startup, I would need to verify the identity of my user before I send them ACH for their payment.I am curious to find out what and how you would use in term of verifying your user identity. I understand like airbnb is using offline identity (passport or driver license), taskrabbits are using background check (sterling info systems), I think Zaarly is also using...
I am also in the same situation as yours as I am working on a peer to peer marketplace.
I am afraid of the lawsuit and liability. I think for starter, you can do DBA first, then if your business makes money (meaning it gets traction) and as soon as you get $800 revenue to pay tax, then you can go LLC to protect yourself. Why spend $800 on overhead (tax) if you don't know if your apps are going to make you money?
I think this is what I am going to do (unless there is a big liability on DBA)
Can anyone recommend good insurance for business that I can start looking at?
Thanks.
My question is that if this 3rd party aggregation policy is just custom made for each payment gateway (means they make their own policy), or is it legally bound by the US law?
I want to make sure that I do not break any laws here.
Thank you for your input.
PS: also I notice some marketplaces like zaarly or airbnb has some kind of insurance for protection / safety while other marketplaces do not. If I want to offer insurance or some kind of protection, how should I start? I tried to find information on google, but probably due to my limited knowledge on this area, I do not find information that is relevant.
Thanks.
Can you recommend someone who has done the hard work? Is it Balance Payments as ig1 said?
Thanks.
I can do it this way, or if not, have buyer pays the seller directly and then I charge seller the % monthly.
How do I payout using other alternative like wire transfer or mailed check if I use Balanced Payments?
how do I get insured to ensure I am covered for fraud or other risks? I am not familiar with these side of entrepreneurship, the legality of running an online marketplace.
Thank you for your help.
