Good on you for sticking with it. I too tried launching a similar service in this market, you’re right, the “big boys” marketing is everywhere and drowns out smaller service providers. Keep going, good luck.
On OSX, there are Safari App Extensions. They’re not as user customizable as extensions on Chrome but they do exist. In fact I recently release my own Safari Ad-tracking blocker on the Mac App Store.
Chiming in with one exchange I've used, Coinbase / GDAX , I think it might only be available if you're in the United States.
Yes! I did this today =) it's a lot easier for me to switch tasks if I work my side project first thing in the morning, but it takes quite a bit of effort to get going for me as I'm not a morning person.
Retainer, that sounds like an awesome setup. How many years have you been freelancing?
Currently using Sinatra in my latest side project. I realize it's no longer the heyday of Ruby, but for simple apps its easy to get started and enables the possibility of using the vast amounts of Ruby gems in my project.
I built
http://highbetastocks.com as a way to scratch my own itch (was too lazy to have to login to my brokerage account every time I wanted this info). And in the process learned a little bit of Meteor js ^_^
Generally, when flaps and slats are extended, they increase the camber of the airfoil, increasing the Coefficient of Lift for the same AoA. Also, the air gaps introduced at the junctions between slats/flaps and the main wing re-energize the boundary layer on the top surface of the wing to retard flow separation on the upper surface (becomes a concern because of the increased camber).

Follow blogs / forums / prominent devs on Twitter for the tech you use /are interested in, at least that's what I do. And HN =)
Oh man, this great. Now I kind of want a burrito ^_^
Have you thought about attending tech Meetups (if there are any in your area), in my experience there are often individuals looking to hire devs.
I have one. I bought a domain to have a personalized email address and decided I'd throw something up. It's an 'about me' page, but I still guide folks to my LinkedIn page instead. I am planning to add a blog, mostly to document / comment snippets of code I find myself reusing.

I have recently started looking in to MeteorJS and find it really exciting, any idea if there are good video resources to learn more about it?edit for clarity
Like already mentioned, sleep. In addition to that, most recently I found that listening to "Tibetan singing bowls" (random Spotify playlist I found) helps keep me in the zone.
Good idea, me too.
Thanks !
I tend to gravitate to music without lyrics.
I've been listening to a playlist I found on Spotify - "Beats to think to"
Also, if you like the sounds of a coffee shop, checkout coffitivity.com (no affiliation). If I'm in the right mood, gets me in the zone.
I used pretty much all the resources already mentioned (Big Nerd Ranch, Raywenderlich, Stanford course), but I'd like to add a few more to the mix - check out
http://objc.io ,
http://nshipster.com and
http://nsscreencast.comNote - I have no affiliation to any of the links above, I just think they're good resources. Good luck!
Inspiring! Glad it worked out for you
if you don't mind me asking, did you start doing SW dev at your employer during that first year when you were still doing EE work? Or did you pick it up on your own outside of your day job ?

Anyone here transition from a different engineering background (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical..) to software development ? If so, how long did that transition take you until you were proficient enough to be employable? Were you still working during your 'ramp up' ?I'm really enthused about becoming an iOS dev and have been self learning all year long - from time to time I wonder if it'll actually...
Hey, I've been learning iOS dev on my own since the beginning of the year, try these:
-Stanford's Developing iOS Apps Course (free on iTunes U)
-developer.apple.com (unpaid account), gives you access to plenty of code examples to learn from and programming guides
-check out raywenderlich.com, objc.io, nshipster.com to name a few
-stackoverflow
-youtube(!)
-and if you can gather a few bucks, I'd recommend Big Nerd Ranch guide for Objective-C and the iOS programming version too
-IRC
Good luck!

Background: 5 years working in the aerospace industry with a MS in Aerospace Engr, BS in Mechanical Engr & BS in Aerospace Engr. Relevant experience includes writing code for aerospace hardware development, namely, modeling physics-based gas dynamics (Matlab). Recently self-taught; developed an iOS app and published to AppStore -- and loved it! Looking to find an iOS developer role where I can continue to mature my skills and expand my knowledge of the iOS SDK.
Another good data point. It is indeed different.
