There are a couple of reasons modern design won I think.
Art Nouveau and classic styles from before are very expensive to build and maintain. Human population increased massively during the Industrial Revolution leading to more demand for cheap living space, and living inside is more important than looking at it from the outside.
According to my research, the new iPad mini does support extended desktop!
A detachable switching to iPadOS would have been a lot better for artists I think (I produce music and draw and own iPads), but Apple wants to sell you on iPads AND Macs plus their iCloud syncing service so they won't do that and merge it into one device.
I also think both Touch and the new Duo phone size are vehicles to lock in devs into native frameworks and make native development more exclusive.
There was a quad core Mini back in 2011. The old iMac was a good all in one package for designers, especially because you'd spend half or more for an equivalent quality screen.
The new post Jony Ive design and limitation to 24 inches make it undesirable. I know a lot of folks with older 2007 - 2019 iMacs but none of them who upgraded from those have the new 2020+ one.
Is Stage Manager with an external monitor possible with this new iPad Mini or still artificially limited to M chips? I mean it’s more powerful than the M1 iPad Air which supports it.
You just know something is utter trash when such an obvious domain is used.
Jony Ives goal or obsession is invisible computing that gets out of the way, so thinner is just on a trajectory towards that. No surprise he ended up at an AI company and works on voice interfaces etc.
Those are private label brands where the US or EU owners look for ready made low cost products within a category across different Chinese factories and slap their logo on top. Like SEO they game the product search engine and listings on Amazon to appear on the first search result pages, knowing that most impulse buyers don't have much patience.
The factories usually ship directly to Amazon warehouses and it is also fulfilled by Amazon (FBA).
HomeView, HomePod and AppleTV should be one device. A powerful home server + a bunch of low powered clients and receivers all over the home. No need for 8gb RAM in all of them..
This thing needs some legs or wheels so that it can follow you around a house, becoming a telepresence bot basically.
Apple is literally cooking for non tech savvy seniors it seems. More or less a locked down foolproof iPad on a stand.
Only on the same local network I guess.
Inevitable given that a lot of dev entrepreneurs are moving from high level CRUD to low level software, CAD and hardware now with AI. But it might move beyond Linux once AIs come up with their own programming languages.
I think because the foods aren't equally digestible and as such lead to a different supply of steady energy. Food cravings can distract.
Cool, I think there's a bug when switching themes in the web ui in Safari, the artifacts example with the dark red background isn't readable in light themes. Vesper would be a nice theme to add.
Topcoat needs an Inertia like React integration + Stylex (type safe CSS) on the frontend imo if you want make it as agent friendly as possible. HTMX, Tailwind etc. are still ok but folks who switch to Rust now do this mostly for easier and safer automation. So if you want to grow the framework better think about React.
Depends a lot on the token budget I think, different situations for established businesses or strapped founders vs side hustles or hobbyists. So in a way you outgrow Rails or frameworks like it once you can afford a software factory on autopilot 24/7.
Agents might pick up Topcoat (inspired by Rails) as the framework for those Rust apps.
MacOS GG didn't fit on my 16gb USB drives for a clean reinstall so I decided to upgrade from Tahoe and do a clean wipe afterwards, expecting that this leaves me with a clean GG install. But guess what, after wiping I was back on Tahoe after spending hours updating..
I think people prefer to look at traditional architecture but prefer to live in modern architecture because at least inside it is better optimized for actual human needs (designed to maximize space, light etc).
The contradiction between outside (public space) and inside (personal space) is worth discussing as well.
Whats the advantage over plain single html files/apps using colocated css and use the browser/web view local storage? Those could be saved as PWAs or not?
Missing out on flawless App Intents integration could be business risk for Shopify once people get used to doing everything from a central chat interface, including shopping. I guess it's the real reason for the switch.
You can't have a proper soundstage in a car no matter your setup, which kinda degrades a lot of music that wasn't designed for clubs. In a car it's basically background music when you're driving because you can't really give the music your full attention anyway (passive listening), where the lack of focus also masks a lot of details you'd hear on a proper stereo system (active listening).
The timing is interesting. Stylex (Metas CSS in JS library) is taking off right now because it seems a better fit for AI driven coding in the long run.
Preventing upsells won't fly with most smaller shops who depend on social media advertising and average order value (AOV) to make profits from ads.
Big chains are everywhere, including Iceland.
Omarchy imo is best for agent maxxing Mac power users who aren't locked into Apples proprietary apps like Final Cut, audio production software or Adobe and Affinity, so maybe not so great for designers and photographers as the main system.
That's the way unless you want to reward the EU for their anti small business moves.
>You all have embarrassed and shamed yourselves.
>Most of you aren't Neovim users, but a drive-by mob, swirling from one mindless vomit-party to another, like the pacific garbage patch.
True. That's why people like DHH are anti-woke to the max in first place, it (cancel culture) happened at his own company and almost destroyed it.
